They already did and already have been.
The vaccines were for the OG virus, not the variants.
We already been knowing this, it still protects but not at that the same level which is why precautions are still needed.

This variant also might reduce the effectiveness of some monoclonal antibody treatments and the antibodies generated by a COVID-19 vaccine.

While research suggests that COVID-19 vaccines are slightly less effective against the variants, the vaccines still appear to provide protection against severe COVID-19. For example:

  • Early research from the U.K. suggests that, after full vaccination, the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine is 88% effective at preventing symptomatic COVID-19 virus caused by the delta variant. The vaccine is 96% effective at preventing severe disease with the COVID-19 virus caused by the delta variant. The research also showed that the vaccine is 93% effective at preventing symptomatic COVID-19 virus caused by the alpha variant.
  • Early research from Canada suggests that, after one dose, the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine is 72% effective at preventing symptomatic COVID-19 virus caused by the delta variant. One dose of the vaccine is also 96% effective at preventing severe disease with the COVID-19 virus caused by the delta variant.
  • The Janssen/Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine is 85% effective at preventing severe disease with the COVID-19 virus caused by the delta variant, according to data released by Johnson & Johnson.
Do COVID-19 vaccines protect against the variants? - Mayo Clinic

Now question, why did you put medical experts in air quotes?
Are you suggesting that the sooner the medical experts who aren't even really medical experts admit it the better?

Any links to those "early research" studies?

I put "medical experts" in quotes because the experts are still acting like as long as you are vaxed everything is fine. Go live your life. Fauci just said as long as your family is vaxed spend holidays together, go trick or treating, etc. They are still not up front about the virus spreading just as much among vaxed

Can we stop the fear mongering? :gucci:

Yes you can die from covid, but you can die from driving(especially if you black, not only can you die in an accident, a traffic stop from a race soldier can end you), that doesn't mean you get in your car w/ fear. :dahell:

The avg person regardless of vax status will survive, there's a 97%+ chance you survive covid, and those chances go up if you don't have major health conditions(obesity, weak immune, etc) and/or vaxed.

As of now, there have been 45mil cases in America along w/ 724k deaths, that's a 2% mortality rate. Now will there be more deaths? Yes, but the vast majority of y'all will be fine. If you're scared shytless, get vaxed and/or start taking care of yourself(eat right, sleep good, immune boosters). This fear brigade is going on too much :camby:

I don't think they are acting that way at all.
Fauci said spend holiday with families, he didn't say go out of town or something.
And trick or treating?
It's not like i haven't brought my kids trick or treating but no way are we doing it during covid.
Firstly i never liked the idea of getting candies from strangers.
Secondly people are less trustworthy during covid, they are bored so who knows what they will do for fun.
They could put glass in candies.
