@Double Burger With Cheese so this is a rap or hip hop song to you?

It’s whatever the fuk he chooses it to be- There is no straight defining line in black music when it has crossover into other aspects of rap infused with elements of hip hop and/or R&B. Stfu- just bc your white ass listens to Mobb Deep and you think that you have a license to comment on a “hip hop” forum doesn’t give you the right to dictate opinions on hip hop and rap.

Max B is considered a rapper but sang on a number of songs with heavy R&B influences - we don’t call him an R&B artist - mind your business.

Mariah ain't with the foolishness. Good for her :obama:

Fantasia and Vanessa Carlton need to sue too
They cleared the Vanessa Carlton sample before they released Who I Smoke. Foolio said he doesn’t care about the Fantasia song not being cleared and she can keep the money. He just wanted people to hear it.

Yep it’s hip hop. If Prodigy made a full r&b song I would consider it hip hop since he raps most the time. Simply a hip hop artist stepping into another lane.
But how is it hip hop if the hip hop artist is stepping into another lane?
Nobody is saying that once a rapper makes one pop or R&B or rock song they are no longer hip hop.

This white poster trying to define what hip hop means to us and thinks that his definition is the final word. And nobody checks his cac ass. Not only one time that for does this, but twice. Only on the internet will a white boy seem so empowered to try to check black people in a music genre of our own creation.
:francis:
So what are the definitional characteristics of hip hop?

My logic is not off. By some of y’all logic in this thread this song is not hip hop at all.
Its r&b and shouldn’t be considered hip hop

But to make that statement about the Biggie song would be considered crazy. Well it’s the same shyt with these dudes. They are rappers that flipped a r&b track and sung on it with traditional rap content. That’s what Biggie did and his shyt is hip hop like they shyt is.

I always considered this a skit.

Dude I don’t answer to or debate with any of you cac members on this board on any issues. I TOLD you what to think- if you don’t, that’s on you.

what you’re not going to do is come on the thread and insist on having black posters cater to your mindset for music that you have no direct association or contribution to. Again-fukk off and mind your business. Black posters having a discussion on what they consider hip hop or r&b is one thing but you as a white with no ties to the culture - myself and others could give a fuk about your opinion; thinking bc you can quote Prodigy is a gateway to tell us about black music.

No I just know you’re a passive aggressive little reject white bytch whining behind a keyboard for black acceptance trying to persuade us with your opinion as no one gives your comment any merit; who would get his head knocked off at a 2000s era Mobb Deep concert in New York for thinking that you can run your mouth and not deal with the consequences. But keep crying - you aint about that type of life, getting murked. Scared to death at a venue where you can’t move solo - go back to playing on YouTube, that’s your lane.

Nobody is saying that once a rapper makes one pop or R&B or rock song they are no longer hip hop.

At this point, we’re gonna have to agree to disagree. I don’t like when I have several post in the same thread repeatedly having to expound on my point. I almost always understand where someone is coming from, even if I disagree with them. Even when people like to do the thing where they may disagree, but act like they have no idea how you could have the position you have. So this is one of those topics where I fully understand the logic of everyone and I’m not even mad at y’all for having the opinion it’s not hip hop. I simply disagree, and I’ve explained why and posted examples and rearticulated my point a few times, made sure to let people know I wasn’t saying I like the song etc... so at this point, it’s pointless for me to to continue engaging. I understand fully where y’all coming from, and I disagree.

So again. You concede that I’m right. I got it already.
