We are taught to obey authority or face physical discipline, and that includes death.


If society thinks it's ok for a cop to rough people up for resisting arrest, then you cant be shocked that people discipline their children in the same manner.

The difference is that you are not an authority figure over your wife, you ARE over your children tho.

1. society is not "ok" with that. many people disagree.

2. laws vs. doing what you want. they are not the same thing. if your child does badly at school no law is broken.
your logic means that the school teacher can rough up your child for getting bad grades.
or that a police officer could rough you up just for doing a legal act that they did not like.
and finally "developing brains".

there is a reason why juvenile courts are more lenient than adult courts .
do you need someone to spell it out for you?
