It’s unconstitutional to not allow him to defend himself if he so chooses. I’m sure they do not want to waste time with this in court. Given the facts the jury and the court has, Im pretty sure they don’t find it cute or funny at all. He is fully competent and if he want to die on his own sword so be it. I think he has some major issues besides what he did to his family, but he does sound coherent when he's speaking from what I've seen. Not sure what the threshold for mental illness is in that state or how it works, but being a nut-job doesn't automatically make you mentally ill, but I do see what you're saying.
From my understanding, what the normal public considers mentally ill and what the court determines is mentally ill enough not to stand trial is very different. You can't get insanity defense if you are psychotic but are aware of what you're doing. Yeah its a mental illness but I think the law only considers cases where the person legitimately can't comprehend in a normal way what they did wrong. For example, a schizo who instead of seeing human beings, is literally seeing demons in front of him when he pulls the trigger and has voices telling him what to do and his perception of reality see absolutely nothing wrong. Like gone gone type crazy.
Also, I remember one thing someone said is that really crazy people actually tend to admit what they did and do nothing to prevent themselves from facing perceived punishment because they genuinely believe they did nothing wrong because...they are really fukking crazy.
If you actually understand that what you did is wrong or show that you understand you can face consequences for what you did, you're not going to get the insanity defense.
That makes sense to me.
This guy is a scumbag and seems like a psychopath, which doesn't mean he shouldn't stand trial or not be able to be his own lawyer. I'm just waiting for him to completely mess up and accidentally admit what he did during one of his statements or questions.
I give that 11 year old kid a ton of credit. Having your "father" ask you if he hurt you, and you tell him "yes", that takes a lot of courage. And, I didn't know at first that the boy saw his sister attacked with an axe.
.Too much evil in this world. Taking a life for some people is just too easy and they go about their day like nothing happened. To me, that is the scariest part about society, people that have no emotion or don't care about harming others. That's one of the reasons I never flip people off or do anything aggressive when driving. All it takes is the wrong person and you're gone........for good.

No that’s not apparent that he is insane. He is lying in itself saying he didn’t do these things. That’s the first step in itself, and a very competent decision to lie. If you were on drugs or whatever it may be, you would be able to accept the fact that you commited the crime. If I killed my family I want to be locked up or die. I can’t live with that guilt. This guy is a self serving loser, who snapped on his family out of whatever frustrations or whatever he had at that moment. It wasn’t the first time he was abusive to his family either. People who commit genocide are not all mentally ill, people who kill they families are not always as well. Some people are fukked yo individuals who decide to make other people suffer for their own frustrations and anger they have towards themselves and the rest of the world. Dude is a piece of shyt. He could have already received a psychological evaluation. Lawyers told him he has literally no chance of getting off due to the evidence and he said well fukk it I’m going to defend myself. That’s the only reason he is up there

You can see it all over his face that he knows what the fukk he did and is trying his best to try to get a insanity defense or scare his son on the stand. That’s his intention, and if y’all can’t see that you are naive. He definitely wanted a lawyer. But lawyers are honest with you if you have a case like this. A public lawyer told him you have 0 chance at being found not guilty, so of course he said fukk it I’ll do it and try to manipulate my son..The thing is that most of you guys are good people so it seems crazy for someone to harm their children.
But there are people who never wanted to be parents who put cigarettes out on their children, lock them in the basement for days, burn them, drown them when giving them baths... people torture their kids as their little dolls to vent all their anger on. I used to volunteer in a big brother program with the court basically and the types of abuse some of these children were receiving is enough to lose you plenty of sleep just hearing it. These same parents smile in your face, go to church, and swear up and down they are good parents and that hurting children is not that serious because they are yours. Some people are just bad people. They are not all people who simply need help..He is up there trying to scare the hell out of his son. This isn’t the first time he saw his father abuse members of the household. This isn’t a upstanding citizen who just went ham one day

I did a bit of research and guess what? 3 year ago he was found incompetent to stand trail and was sent to a hospital. They know he's crazy.

Hey I can’t argue with you, given I fully understand how you can make that assessment given the information you researched. I’ll just hold it to my own opinion that he is fully competent and understands that his son is his only hope of getting off, and told the court his son shouldn’t be deemed as a reliable source and doesn’t understand what happened. But I’m not going to argue with you. Your opinion is justified. I’m only making a personal opinion based off of my experiences working with at risk children with abusive parents. Just my personal stance. I’m a psychologist, but I can’t be on some know all shyt if I haven’t been with him personally. So I see how you feel. I just feel different and he is trying his best to scare his son into saying otherwise.. but it’s All good
