Separate And Unequal - Frontline 2014

Sixty years after the Supreme Court declared separate schools for black and white children unconstitutional, school segregation is making a comeback. In "Separate and Unequal," airing July 15, FRONTLINE travels to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where a group of mostly white parents are trying to form their own city with its own separate school district, leaving behind a population of black students.



Most high schools in East Baton Rouge Parish School System are 60-99% black. An exception is Baton Rouge Magnet which is 41% black, 40% white, and 15% Asian. Most of the high schools have a program encouraging the children to keep their hands to themselves. McKinley High and Woodlawn High offer an accelerated and rigorous Great Scholars Academy for students who have an IQ of 84 or higher.

:dahell:The median IQ is 100, and the median IQ of a college graduate is 113. Anybody with an IQ of 84 is fukking dumber than whale chit.

The school system has a gifted and talented program. My guess is that G and T is majority white and the Great Scholar Program was invented to not hurt the feelings of others. The school system makes it clear that the two programs don't not interact with each other, at all.

I have noticed such maneuverings at southern schools. Augusta, GA has a magnet high school called Davidson Fine Arts Magnet School. The students are selected by race: 45% white, 45% black, and 10% other. No exceptions. It sounds illegal to me but the people of Augusta seem happy. It is one of the top high schools in the country.

Segregation hurts us because it leaves the power in the hands of whites. Segregated school systems means that white government controls where funds are allocated, what is and is not taught to our children, teacher and test standards, etc.

Separated schools? We handle our own kind. You handle yours.

We talking about mixed people or Jews here? :wtf:

Obviously, many mixed African Americans are considered and are just that : African Americans. And my people are the ones I'm concerned about.

Nevertheless, I understand your point here...but let's not act like a "Mixed Identity" isn't already on it's way in America (If it isn't already here...there are plenty of websites trying to form a community). Maybe they'll have their own schools as well?

Maybe we just need to be self-orientated for once. Maybe "everyone else" just isn't our problem for once? We need to get ours. And as whites have shown, we don't need to be consistent, moral, or fair to do that.
