To add on a point, the military in the United States does not regularly get deployed to murder American protesters.
In Nigeria this is common. I did not say that white people put significant footwork in to create civil rights. What I said was having white people on the ground and the culture of protesting being accepted prevents the military from just shooting everyone down one by one.
In 2020, this is what is happening to people who date to fight the government in Nigeria. So the risk vs reward of activism in the US and Nigeria are totally different.
Does not take away from the achievements of black Americans but refutes the assumptions that Nigerians should just "fight".
I get what you are trying to say.
But, I don't think comparison with the U.S. or any non-African country is the way to get your message across.
I say that based on the different dynamics, history and other ethnic factors that may tie in.
Most people see every Nigerian (and any other African) as just Black due to race - but most don't understand the tribal/ethnic and class dynamics that come into play. We have no clue how that works and what would feel like or be like. So, we need to keep our opinions to ourselves.
But, the U.S. military has always never been a real ally to Black Americans - even when we are fighting besides them. I am saying this as a Black American whose male ancestors fought in every war in the history of the U.S ---- and long history of military service.
The U.S. Military has always been used to go at Black Americans. They get called in when we protest - non-violent or violent.
They BOMBED a ADOS community - more than once. Whites didn't protest -- nor where they on the ground. They are sent in anytime they even feel like we are about to act up. In addition, to testing shyt in our communities.
The day Philadelphia bombed its own people

The Culture of protesting is not accepted -- and we see that even today. But, we still do it - cause it's something that has been passed down for generations by our ancestors. Not to say Nigerians should or shouldn't do it --only yall know or will have to figure out what works for yall. Applying U.S. based activism tactics may not be solution for non-U.S. countries.
They ONLY accept it once they co-opt the narrative and get an inside to deter progress for specifically Black Americans. And they don't shoot everyone down cause Whites have their ass out there to front like they care about stopping White Supremacy/Racism -- when they don't.
The ROOT of this back and forth -- and dumb narratives being thrown out at people -- is people speaking down and judging each other. It needs to stop on both ends.
For instance, I see a lot of your post speaking about how much you make or have -- and calling others poor - and other ish just out-the-blue. Which is cringe.
But, at the same time you don't know what they have or their story -- or if you even make more than them. Making assumptions or going at people based off stereotypes is the same thing you don't want others to do you or anyone you know.
Let's stop this -- or make an attempt too.
