To say that this guy influenced me would be an understatement, a true maestro, fumbling through my father's records as a kid; EWF record covers would always have me :ohhh:.....:krs:even the images were trying to nudge you in the right direction.
My dad had the vinyls...I used to be in awe of the art that was on them...shyt was deep

He was one of the sounds of my youth, as a child born in the 1970s. There's something parental with Maurice prescence. Maybe it's because his sound was so married to my parents era. First person I thought to call hearing of his passing was my mother.

I feel so sad right now.....

I actually thought of Lakeside and Cameo after I posted. Damn shame what happened to the drummer from ConFunkShun :mjcry:. He seemed like a real stand up dude. I think that case is still unsolved. War? So them at yearly festival that comes here. Them dudes put on a SHOW. Lonnie Jordan seems like a real cool cat, and had us rolling the whole time. When they played Why Can't We Be Friends, this biker looking white dude was going around dapping and hugging everybody :heh:. He was cool as shyt. Smoked a couple j's with him and his wife. EWF was there on a different day, but I missed them cuz I had to work.

I saw Lakeside and OP at a festival years back in '03 myself and needless to say them brothers tore it down.. The highlight tho was how you could see the guys from Lakeside watching Sugar and the fellas off stage just like we were then they kicked off Love Rollercoaster and they came and joined in on the ad libs ..Think that was the last time the OG lineup toured together too :salute:
