Sometimes, the analytics guys step out of bounds, but for the most part, they(the good ones) are accurate... and the good ones watch game tape and use analytics to put player data output and the tendencies into perspective.

I believe in the law of averages... for example....

Lebron's ppg, during his entire career, always has increased from the regular season into the playoffs, but his turnovers increase and he tends to miss very important FT's too. These are trends that analytics guys and people on this board that pay enough attention to the games catch.

I say this as a former athlete.

We need a perfect balance and that’s what a lot of these teams don’t have
Except the winning ones.

What did the Raps go out and do at the trade deadline last year? They went out and got a big man that can operate from the deep post, high post, shoot the three and most importantly can pass out of the post. Valanciunas is actually one of the most efficient bigs in the game when it comes to scoring cuz he can make it happen in the post but he couldn’t pass worth a damn so you couldn’t play inside out with him. And that trade turned the Raptors from a mediocre shooting team to the best in the league.

Inside out ball.

I love Eddie Johnson. Justin Termine can hold my nuts though :pacspit:

Eddie is on point

Dude is :mjpls:

38 years old and hates hip hop, loves the Celtics and picked the Jazz to win the NBA Finals:mjpls:

Also says Bird is better than LeBron:mjpls:

I honestly can’t figure out why he covers the NBA.

All these anti analytics rants reminds me of old head poker players back in the mid late 2000s.

Shout outs to Annie Duke who has been putting in work against the anti-analytics crowds in poker and in sports. Duke is a champion AND has a Psychology PhD, but it's all nerds who never have skin in the game who use cacalytics :troll:

TYRONE GA!
I’m tryna tell you this a copy cat league literally .. soon as a team get a dynamic paint player or 2 and start winning by rebounding and scoring in the paint teams gonna look to do the same
This.

And "analytics" being the boogie man has been overblown by those scared of math.

Cats need to understand that the word also encompasses simple shyt like

Free throw %
Player A shooting this % driving to the right vs left
Etc

shyt like that is also "analytics"

He's right in the sense that everyone trying to do the same shyt without having the right personnel is stupid. Cats bring up the Warriors but they made the most midrange shots in NBA history over the previous 5 years. It's moreso everyone trying to be the Rockets

People have made analytics synonymous with three pointers, when that’s not really how it works.

Man, just had this idea.
What if the NBA made it -1 point for every missed 3 pointer.
I know shyt sounds crazy, but it would introduce a risk/reward element to it.
Only upper echelon shooters would have the green light to fire away even when contested.
It would instantly add value to the midrange game, and guys that were killer from 15 would be as valuable as outside shooters.
All the other suggestions are either impossible or gimicky. You cant make the courts bigger because those court side seats are prime real estate. A 4 point line would be ridiculous.
So many different offenses would develop, because the shot would still be valuable, but you would need an open look from a dead eye out there to really justify early shots.
Teams going on a run would have to slow shyt down and play inside ball too, or else take a risk tying to blow it open from beyond the arc, because that 5 point lead that youre trying to get up to 8 could drop down to 4.
The three pointer would become a much "bigger deal" in the game, guys would shy away from it. Or not. Guys might be fukkin gun slingers out there.
Man, the more I think about this the better it sounds.
Someone talk me back from the edge here, im high af.

I get the point the woman in the video was trying to make but...the Seahawks also had beast mode who hadn’t been tackled for a loss on ANY of his carries in that game. The right play is to run the ball there, especially as Lynch was finding lots of success in the second half of that game.

How can you cats not realize it's not black and white, but somewhere in between?

Also you guys are obsessed with athletes. It's quite mindblowing.
Go on a sports forum and ask why people are talking about sports and athletes brehs
