If you're a generation x'er and didn't take advantage of the tail end of that 1993 - 2000 and 2002 - 2007 economic boons back then.. I feel sorry for ya asses. We kinda got squeezed in the middle but if you had any sense, there were plentiful opportunities to take advantage of.

I also don't agree with us having it worse. These kids coming out of college now have very dismal prospects for a career unless it's a highly specialized profession (doctors, scientists, etc..). That's why these younger folks are hungry right out the gate. You got companies requiring a B.A. to work in call centers for 14 an hour..:what: How you pay back on loans, take care of bills and shyt on some gotdamned 14 an hour especially if you're by yourself. What about those who didn't even go to college, how much they making?? These young nikkas having to live at home or have roommates (which isn't that bad of an idea) to keep expenses low.

Getting jobs out of college is mostly knowing how to network.

I think we have it worse because we have little margin for error. I know people that lost their jobs between 2009 - 2010 that still haven't recovered. I got lucky. If you're in that 18-25 age bracket you still have a wider margin. Most people that age take it for granted (I did when I was that age).

We definitely have it worse and I've tried explaining this to my parents countless times and they refuse to believe it...

The problem is that there are no jobs. Real unemployment is closer to 30% than the 8% that is touted on the news.

And....all the jobs are highly specialized and in places where the cost of living is high or the rent does not make sense.

There are jobs. You just have to be creative in finding them. And you have to be willing to get in the door for lesser money and finesse your way up.

This generation has more resources available to create jobs and be entrepreneurs. You have technology on your side. If bytches can make money on Instagram there is money to be made. Technology has made the world smaller with an abundance of hustles.

The problem with this generation is you're trying to go the traditional route when you have more options. But like I said before, you have youth on your side so you still have time to adapt.

Posts like these really miss the point. This isn't about the micro level, or one persons journey to making money. Of course if you are smart and resourceful, one individual can figure out a way to be successful. Look beyond your own self and look at the macro level. These are the trends, and this is what is happening whether you individually "have a plan" or not.

I don't give a fukk about these gen y'ers. They're not talking about black folks FYI, they're talking about spoiled racist cacs. fukk em and I hope they get arrested for not paying their student loans :pacspit:

The bolded is ignoring reality as well as ignoring the cost of living point I made in the prior post...

It also ignores that wages have been stagnant relative to the cost of goods and cost of living

Don't get me wrong, I got a job and I'm doing well but I know it could all come crashing down at any moment. And I also see the struggle out there. We can't ALL be entrepreneurs breh, the world does not and will never work like that.

...and for the bold part, even if it did - to really succeed in entrepreneurship, you got to have THE BOMB PRODUCT.

THE BOMB PRODUCT is what makes you successful in business (and/or life).
Folks are outchea thinkin' "you just gotta get a degree" or "you just gotta learn to code" or "you just gotta hustle"...
but the reality is, you gotta have some chit that is worth people fuccin' with you to come up.

Exactly. I learned this shyt in B-School breh. This is basic Marketing I, Marketing Research and Business 101 and 102.

Your product or service must have "differentiation" from your competitor. Take Apple and non-Apple PCs. Both do more or less the exact same shyt.

This is why I always tell anyone young or about to enter college.....MINOR IN BUSINESS. This way you have a better understanding of how the world works.

That's astute...but I mean, it's something they already know lowkey.

It's like a woman who is beautiful. She might be a rude bytch, but dudes will deal with that because her "product" is better than most.
She's gonna be alright.

Like you say, you gotta have "differentiation" from the next person - you gotta be a bad bytch.
So many of these young'uns coming out of college now are the "5"s and "6"s at the club that all
have the same dress on wondering why nobody wants to buy them a drink.

You're not looking at the bigger picture. The short term looks dire but long term, you have more options available than generations before you. Yeah, you gotta work harder and be more creative, but that's pertaining to ones effort level.

This is an all around awful, shorty, misinformed, and wrong post.

Evolution of income inequality in Toronto. Went from 66% middle class in 1970 to a projection of only 10% middle class in 2025. Obviously this is flawed because it doesn't take net worth into account but income tends to be correlated to net worth.
