Dems have to buck up and stop making an enemy out of American businesses. If they can collaborate with big and small business to spur job growth they will be skraight. No need to bring jobs back when we can make em right here.

4 years? 4 months more likely

Trump's fatal flaw with jobs was talking about bringing them back. A job is not like a gold brick that gets moved around from factory to factory. They can't just send an aircraft carrier to China and load the jobs back into containers. They're gone. Trump would have been smarter to devise a plan to give these people something else to do... enable the creation of new jobs. Hopefully somebody on his team will put that plan in action.

Yeah the next 4 years will be fukking hilarious. Sucks for those who don't have skillsets, networks and most importantly intact families which is why I am unphased by the election results.

"Blue-collar Whites" should have saw the writing on the wall in the 1970s and 80s and steered their kids towards education for skilled labor when factories were closing and college was affordable; Affirmative Action was and still is in favor of their White daughters. My great uncle worked in tobacco factory and sent all of his kids to college and trade school. My maternal grandfather worked on the railroad (who was steered from his parents to get off the farm/sharecropping) and steered his kids the same as his brother. They saw that these jobs would not always be in demand and unions are in favor of protecting White male workers and were created to wipe out competition of cheaper skilled non-White labor. Also, my granddad and uncles worked a series of odd and side jobs (contract work, mechanics) to support their families because of economic disadvantages. It's amazing how some Whites project that pull yourself by your bootstraps mentality, stop being entitled stuff when it is they who should be doing this. Quit whining and waiting for government; create your own jobs. Keep those polluted as factories on China's soil. I'd rather our resources go to environmental studies cleaning up the last 100 years of industrialization. No one is going to pay you 70K to mop the floor of a steel mill and retire with a pension like your entitled grandfather or push a button on an assembly line for factory work. A child can do that and literally did. The only reason why Child Labor laws came into play during the Great Depression is because adults needed the jobs.

Better invest 12K in a 3 month coding bootcamp and enter the information age so you can make 70K+. Or even certified skilled jobs like plumbers, electricians. Get your hands dirty in construction work which is always available. Better After World War I White men started to become scared when they came back home and had to fight for jobs from children and newly migrated minorities entering the cities, and then WW II when women started to work, and now transgenders.

That last dying gasp before they cease :wow:

They wanted to stop the world turning, and instead ended up left behind.

while i very much understand their economic frustrations (can't get with the social views of many of them :scust:) i really wish this group were educated on actual policies and not swayed by rhetoric and the "right message" cuz trump aint upending big business to make it in any way to bring back jobs, certainly not "rust belt" industries. continue to support the shift of wealth to the 1% because you think your steel plant is reopening and you want to make america white again

While this is true, what is the counterargument to Trump's protectionism? Telling them simply they need to get with the times ain't gonna bring them back into the tent.

these conflicting quotes are why dems are in a hard spot and very much in more danger than they thought. they need to solidify a larger part of the white vote, but to do so, the things they need do are in opposition. one part wants to move further left, the other part needs to remain centrist to get the more conservative blue collar white vote.

The Dems have no choice but to go back to the left at this point.

Ignoring their own base and constantly moving right in order to appease "moderate" voters that will never vote for them anyway is a disastrous strategy and it's why they're in the situation they're in now. They've literally let the right make "liberal" into some sort of curse word and completely control the discussion. If they continue with that attitude they'll keep losing.

If you have two Republicans running against each other, the Republican is always gonna win.
