Hey joe,.......

JAY Z / JIGGA / SEAN CARTER

MAGNA CARTA HOLY GRAIL

REVIEW

Holy grail : this is one of those Gilmore girls cw wgn tv shows soundtrack records.
That jay has been trying to make since kingdom come.
Where he gets totally outshined by jt.
Which I think was the point,....
As he jumps on the record with his wack juicy j like flow that DID NOT WORK, on wtt.
Other than that it gets the desired effect,...
Which is get play on the cw.
Or at an nba game,..whichever is swayed by a payola list from tv and radio first

RATING :2.5/5
took off a star for the lack of a jay spazz moment like dynasty, the intro.
When it was perfectly setup for that.
Took off another star for the jt feature being pretty much the entire record and jay being overshadowed and remedied into forgotten about.
Another half star for the bitten juicy j like flow,..when this should have been jay showing nikkas how to do this son..
Song is similar to the same Alicia keys steals the show type record jay found works for him. Except it never expands upon the fact,...
This is supposed to be a jayz record not superstar singer features jayz record.
Straight bait and switch, on the intro.

Picasso baby :

Come and get me meets hovi baby,/slash a million & one questions joint complete with changeup like rhyme no more.
Which goes more hovi baby, lyrically instead of come and get me/rhyme no more.
I deducted a star for reminding me of hovi baby and another star for lyrically being nowhere near rhyme no more in 2013.
When the production is thirty bmp's slower and this emcee'n and not sports.
We should have jay pay back Samsung for the loss of skills clause like Ken did frank Thomas.
i deducted another star for the tracklisting placement and reminding me of a million/rhyme no more.
then giving me nowhere near the same type of rhymes in 2013

RATING : Three of five

TOm ford : huff,...
Who is writing these jay rhymes,...
This shyt could never have been written by jay.
Another jay attempt at bounce and trap rap that is just as awful as his remix verse to HA..
leave the trap shyt to project pat, Gucci, 2chains, jeezy, dro, and guys who do that shyt.
Jay, lacks the convincability to pull off trap based southern music.
Rating : dud

fukkwitmeyouknowigotit:
waCk wannabe lil Reese flow, and pocket usage here.
Huff
East coast origin, sounding or biting artist trying to do trap rap never works.
Jay, is completely out of character on this record and the production is to call of the wild for a rap song.
This production is some garbage synth work.
that was veto'd and forgotten on the cutting room floor of the scene DJ Qualls and Anthony Hamilton used for whoop that trick.

Rating : dud
Rick Ross and jay try to recreate that same energy southern tear the club up trap record of lore are known for. Yet, fail to even capture the recent moments of past summer club bangers.
Jay needs to stop following trends, and set his own.
As he is out of touch trying to make music that culturally he does not id with.

OCEANS :
This is closer to the type of feature performance you expect from jay lyrically.
Had to wait till the first real Pop playlist single to hear some good jay in 2013 lyrics.
Glad it occurred when it did,..after the first intro and title song.
I thought, we would get a bait and switch moment where we got a jay worse than the Alicia keys feature.
This record picks up the proven jay and superstar feature formula.
Employed by him and Alicia keys and inserts in faq boy Frank ocean for another possible large drawing moment.
RATING : THREE of five

FUTW :
Rehash and interpolation of past breaks,..
Good record
rating : Four and a half,...

SOMEWHEREINAMERICA

This is like that one string of weird eminem content based political records,..that were digestable but used for out of place mtv performances.
Instead of just left as an album track.
Same thing here as it will be used to give the album some type of political edge that is not needed for a jayz record.
All because jayz is not political.
Luckily it is short and does not go on for longer than it should and wear out its welcome.
RATING : three of five
Took off two stars for a bait and switch content base political record.
With no real content and no real length,...
Song is much to do about nuffin

CROWN :

production is some emf/daft punk/chemical brothers type shyt,..
With an awful hook but enough interesting weirdness and some better jayz rhymes to help you through.
RATING : SOME good eurotrash

HEAVEN :

RATING : FIVE/FIVE
a good revisit of some lyrical exercise,...
Jay has some rhymes that sound a bit different for him but it works.
Mixed with a bit of emo execution he has flirted with since blueprint.
Could be a ghostwriter as the pocket is not his at all.
Production is some good top shelf triphop that could have been off a portishead record.
Which is a relief.
When usually, most records like this suffer from poor triphop like production.

VERSUS :

this is a triumph for jay,...
As he finally figures out the desired length and execution to give us euro trash hov.
Who sounded so defeated after ether and the Sean carter mixtape on bpii.
four out of five : for figuring out how to finally BEHAVE and make an annoying Austin powers sounding record, work.
That he has failed at since bp II.
FOUR OF FIVE

PART II :
RATING : DUD

this pocket and the rhymes jay has on this record is some of the worst bullshyt ever.
This is pretty much jay's worst ever submission in rhyme and straight out of fiddy's Michael Jackson jacket with all Dem zippers WOAT RHYMES.
not to mention, it tries to lift juvenile's cadence and rhymes from back that ass up.
I guess he thought he could go in the lab unprepared with beyounce and mail it in, on the honeymoon session.
This is gawd awful,...
Rating : DUD
JAY'S WORST PERFORMANCE EVER..

BEACH IS BETTER

Mike will made another cold ass beat and jay ruined it with bitten rhymes and no real skill emceewise...

1.5/5
I took three and a half stars off because the record is a snippet and jay should have murdered this lyrically.
Instead he used old crutch bitten rhymes
He barely rhymed and no spazz moment,...
Just a waste,.....
Could have been a go to hof snippet moment for the album.
SIMILIAR to redman's basically,...
Instead, we get an awful display of bitten rhymes

BBC

RATING : DUD

this is one of the worst songs with nas since braveheart party.

BLUE

Timbo attempt to make another rap says hello to house music party in a box meets princepaul/bombsquad production try.
I guess this is supposed to be blue meets meet the parents.
Not feeling the wannabe Pac inflection on the vocals.
RATING

Three.5 out of five
This is a good emo record for jay.
It is no will smith gets common to write a song about fatherhood.
Yet it still works because of how emo and left field the production is.
To keep you from focusing in on such a heavy topic content wise.
as jay Never really saddles in direction wise, on this song about his daughter.

LA FAMILIA :

a take on a max b/birdgang/harlem world record,....
Which sounds out of place, because jay is a better emcee than the melodically loud offkey on purpose parlor pocket riding tricks of max b/montana/harlem world type of record

RATING : 2.5/5
took off two and a half stars off for the biting.

NICKLES & DIMES :

this is another play on the coming to America sample.
Or, a re-sampled play on rza samples the lone wolf and the cub.
Plus, a wannabe poppa Wu hook like sounding moment record which does not work at all.
As jay has not been good at introspection since soon you will understand.
Or after he bit slug for his emo moments in meet the parents.
Rating : 2 of 5
I took off three stars for the phoney poppa Wu wannabe shark nikkaz bite and the fact jay never really gives no introspection like he could have.
Plus,...
This record is one of the worst bites of a raekwon moment you could ever find in your life.

TWO.5

two point five for this record as jay is nowhere near potent lyrically and leans on to many bitten stolen moment moments.
when, it was all but setup for him to show more than his contemporaries.
complete mail in moments on the feature records and interludes when it could have counted to make it a much higher quality listen.

another lackluster jayz album, where there is nuffin to replay and nuffin rhyme wise to hold your attention as far as jayz is concerned.

this is what happens when you do no write your rhymes down.
you have no frame of reference, visually to technically to reference back to.
to help you stay sharp skillwise as an emcee.
jay should be showing lil nikkaz how to do this.....
on this release we got nuffin but jay bites and uses flows he is to good of an emcee to even think about using.....
this is a similiar outing to bp iii.
except it tries to use and recreate old jay z songs as a reference point and falls flat.

Jay hasn't been Jigga grade since... 2000?

yeah,..the last jayz moment we really got was the dynasty intro.
we can not count the black album, since we do not know how much of it lupe actually wrote.

i think jayz's career is starting to show why we should never have allowed culture thievery.
as we have to sit and wait for a bait and switch artist like jay to troll us in every capacity possible.
then gloat about it, on reel to reel, and lol to the bank.
this is not what hiphop is about........

So I see it's not everybody that's feeling the album like some would have you believe then.

This sh!t BP3 status? :ohhh:

it is a bpiii moment like album,...
except instead of trying to make a contemporary current pop dubstep type album, like he did for bpiii.
he uses what was popular in the past year on urban radio.
mixed with some outlandish, but sometimes recognizeable triphop breaks and beats directionwise.

mixed in with past moments from his discography that would be recognized as some of his lower quality but higher drawing moments.

if you need an example,......
like we get the revisit of him with beyounce on me and my girlfriend.
instead of the pac driven bite...
we get the drake wannabe revisit of back that ass up lyrically embedded into the direction of that feature.
to the come and get me/rhyme no more/a million and one question style picasso.
or we get him trying to recapture magic on his lesser known but more critically acclaimed style records like meet the parents on blue.

which all fall pegs short of what we expect from jayz lyrically and delivery wise.
the really polished delivery we got from jay on kingdom come.
is nowhere to be found as he leans to much on the offkey styling and lack of technical base style rhymes of the current gen.
which is further down the totem pole than his wtt performance,..
that i still speculate was written by pusha t.
this style of rhyme just like the pusha t sounding verses from wtt.
does not work for jay...
as he is known as the understudy of one of the most advanced technically gifted emcees in the history of rap.
who also was worked up by the understudy of the most technically gifted emcee in the history of rap as well.
so jay trying to emulate the current trends rhyme wise and offering no advancement technical skill wise is a let down.
plus, makes him sound out of place and far from the emcee we gave acclaim to.

The Opposite Of Elliott Wilson's Mohawk
Its weird

To me Jay is at his best when he is not trying

Granted, back in his "Original Flavor" days he had a funny little wave. But him biting IWW Nas & OB4CL Rae's whole aura was the best thing for his music. He absolutely mastered the effortless flow. When I think Jay I think his verse on "What You Think Of That"

Since Ether he has all but abandoned that effortlessness, pursuing these strange Euro Gilbert Godfrey inflection "hey new hot nikka can I borrow your flow + inflections" to try and reinvent himself, and dissociate himself from the streets... the streets that gave him the content and flows that got him where he is

It's so fukking bizarre

I do need to say tho, Bey on Part II....
