The bigger mistake was WCW's inability to push a new monster face moreso than Nash going over Goldberg.

that new monster face was goldberg. when you think about it not even he got the push he deserved, as crazy as that sounds.

the summer of 98 goldberg was the hottest thing they ever had and imo wcw did not do nearly enough to capitalize on that. instead of building the events around goldberg they continued to push hogan. the world champ couldn't even get top billing over karl malone and jay leno.

if nash was so over as a face then why would you guys be in favor of the starrcade finish at all? why turn one of the hottest faces you have into a heel for no reason?

did nash really benefit from this finish at all? wasn't he more over BEFORE going into that match?

Nash didn't turn heel until he aligned with Hogan again

True. He should have been untouchable, but the streak had to end eventually and WCW should have gotten a new face ready for when the time came for it to end. That's all I'm saying.

what happened?

forgive me it's been 15 years.
He came out saying he didn't have anything to do with it. He didn't want to win that way, that's when he gave Goldberg the match in the Georgia Dome the next week that turned into the Hogan debacle

so in essence he was lying, he did have something to do it. he just didn't reveal it until 2 weeks later?

okay, but wasn't nash more over BEFORE the reveal? BEFORE the heel turn?

can't you see why that finish just didn't work and got nobody more over in the process?
Of course, once he turned he became a lackey bytch to Hogan. That's not what killed WCW tho.

goldberg = less over after that match
nash = less over after that match

you don't think killing off your top 2 babyfaces contributed to the decline in the ratings?

going into it, i knew nash had a good chance of winning the belt.

whether he was gonna win clean or not, is neither here nor there.

how can you say that. if nash cannot beat the man clean then that means he's going to have to cheat. if nash was so hot as a babyface then why on earth would you even consider putting him in that spot.
