I'm from where Petey come from
why is this stadium gonna cost damn near $4 bil?
Supply Chain post COVID has been a bih on construction, and we‘re not even factoring the higher cost for labor (both union and non-union). My boy got a multiple million dollar contract just to demo on the RFK site as a Certified Business Enterprise (CBE) vendor :blessed:

I’m gonna try to buy property in the hood around there. Its no longer ‘cheap’ by but property values are going to double in under 10 years

Who is paying for it?
Josh Harris and Commanders ownership group are putting up $2.7 billion.

DC is putting up $1.1 billion. Of course, DC will probably end up putting up more down the road due to tax breaks and other things that entail renovating the area around the stadium. :mjpls:

I drive by the stadium on my way to work and I’ve been seeing the demolition the last couple months. Surreal to see.

Are residents happy about team returning to DC? What's temperature on them putting money up?

I honesly thoughf the era of subsidizing stadiums was over but maybe that's not the case.

The residents in that neighborhood are not happy

But across the city there’s a good amount of buzz for the team coming back into town.

And yeah the tax payer subsidy is still surprising me. The city is broke. Trump coming back into office has had thousands of federal workers laid off who would be spending money in DC. Congress cut the city budget by a $1 billion but it looks like they’ll get that reversed. But the damage was done.

The city just bought Capital One Arena from Ted Leonsis and is renovating it for nearly $600M.

The city owns Nats Park and is doing tens of millions in required maintenance and renovations.
