So he should've never opened his mouth if he didn't open it day one is what you're saying...

That's retarded logic that doesn't have anything to do with his actual points. So the message is invalid because he took too long to come out with it...that's implying people can't or aren't allowed to grow.

So what about these reformed criminals and convicts who come out trying to make a difference...too little too late?

And what if he is just trying a publicity stunt, people indulge in sex tapes and "beef" so indulge in some real shyt

The mindset of the misinformed always attacks the messenger and not the message and people fall right for it...disappointing.
:snoop:

dog.. you clearly aint the sharpest spork in the drawer.. you just making up sh!t, and hyperboling at this point.. maybe this guy can get ti through your thick skull..
I agree this has always existed WAY before Chief Keef and everybody knows and see's this, why single him out and base an entire article around him? This could of been talked about anytime but because its Chief Keef its an easy target.

And I don't even listen to Chief Keef
Why are people acting like this is the first time Rhymefest has spoken out about something?

He ran for office in Chicago a couple years ago.

From 2006.

its called "good business"..they don't giva fukk about what a person rappin about, if its hot, they're gonna promote it and eat off of it

Are you being purposely fraudulent? Or are you just that naive?

The labels do care what rappers rap about. They have lyrics committees that review major label releases to make sure the content fits the image they are marketing. Thats why even on parental advisory sticker releases there are certain words or bars censored out. Say the wrong thing about gays, women, Jews, or public figures and the label will censor it.

There was a well documented push in the 90's after the success of NWA and later The Chronic to replace the afrocentric community building rhymes of PE and Tribe with a more suburban friendly fantasy champagne gangster lifestyle and rap hasnt been the same since.

Ask Too Short if the label cares what you rap about. Ask Lupe. Ask Rakim what happened when he signed to Aftermath.

Obviously, money is the motivation, but the question you have to ask is at what cost to the community and why?

Weak. You know exactly what I'm talking about and you have nothing to say about the message, just "why didn't he say this sooner"

It ain't really about the messenger, it's about the message.

he's dragging out an argument that will have theorists and purists excited. but in the bigger spectrum of things he's been in the industry and seen this happen again and again. and this was even true in the 90s. but its a lot more socially going on than what he's saying. he is actually saying NOTHING.

:aicmon:

how is that NOT a legitimate question.. :mjpls:

you got rappers who been around since, and before you been around.. but, here you go almost 20yrs later.. and, you taking up sh!t with a KID.. :childplease:

my point is, be consistent with your message.. period.. no matter, what it is.. clearly, you're too bird-brained to get that.. i been listening to hip-hop, before i even knew who this dude was.. i never heard him single out a rapper for their violent content, or any of the other shyt hes rambling about.. Chief Keef is miniscule compared to the cats from his day, and the days before..

is that simple enough for you..?

Doe or Die? :youngsabo:

Like it or not, Keef is repping for the young boys who are out there doing the shooting and fighting right now, not 15 years ago.

see, the key word is "hot"..

keef,50,soulja boy and any other artist that laid their own groundwork and got it poppin before a label fukked with them wouldn't have to worry about their image getting changed..the labels went after them, not the other way around.

NOW, if said artist start falling off, or stop generating the money they feel you should be making for them, then i can see the label putting their own imput into what they "feel" you should do (like those artist you mentioned)

You can listen to Keef, King Louie, Sasha Go Hard, all these Chicago "Drill Hop" rappers and comprehend how there can be 30+ shootings in one weekend within a 10 block area.... My problem is that we need to raise the critical thinking and intelligence level of the disenfranchised youth of Chicago's southside before worrying about "The Music" that is developed out of that community and then displayed back to them... The music is essentially a mirror for them to look at themselves in... You can't change the mirror from the glass... You need to change the object that is the source of the reflection... Because lets be real, If you don't raise the intelligence level and education of these individuals and remove the sociopathic behavior from their minds, Im sure they will find some other way to fukk their lives up even if the music didn't exist...

I mean LA gangs existed in the 70's and early 80's and nikkas was poplocking to electro dance music and funk and all that shyt before the late 80's wave of gangster rap... Doesn't fukking matter what the music content is.... Gangster rap just gave them a mirror to look at themselves and something to relate to...

I disagree. I think he's saying alot.

What was true in the 90s? What else is going on socially that he's omitting that you feel might be groundbreaking?

1. no one follows rhymefest or his career :childplease:

2. how did running for public office work out for him? :childplease:

3. since when is chicago a state? :childplease:

smart dumb cracka, die in a fire fakkit

yes

real nikka shyt

lets be reality tho, chief keef is more popular and relevant than rhymefest ever was

the highlight of rhymefest's career was kanye stealing jesus walks from him and not giving him any credit for it, and only a fraction of a percentage of message board heads even know rhymefest had anything to do with it...for that matter that same fraction of a percentage even know who rhymefest is

meanwhile chief sosa signing multi-million dollar label deals with interscope and selling out shows all over the country right now :king: if i was a dusty 43 year old rhymefest supporting his formaldehyde addiction with College Dropout royalty checks, i'd figure out a way to make keef a symbol for everything wrong with black america too

"state," as in condition.
