Anybody that thinks chief keef has any responsibility for murder rate in chicago is a stupid muthafukka pure and simple....stop hating on somebody elses hustle...if rhymefest wanted to speak on his issues with so called "gangsta rap" he could of did that in a more intelligent and direct way without seeming to put the blame on some 16 year old kid who nobody knows...he is being intellectually dishonest
Chief Keef is a “Bomb”, he represents the senseless savagery that white people see when the news speaks of Chicago violence. A Bomb has no responsibility or blame, it does what it was created to do; DESTROY! Notice, no one is talking about the real culprits, the Bomb maker or the pilot who is deploying this deadly force (Labels, Radio Stations). Its easier to blame the bomb. Bombs are not chosen for their individual talents, they are tools used for collateral damage.
This was the first paragraph. Did you even make it to the second sentence?
It's through a metaphor, but Fest clearly states that Chief Keef is not to blame and is not responsible.
He explicitly states that labels and radio stations are to blame and are responsible.
He says that Chief Keef and others like him (i.e. other rappers) are usually blamed and this is wrong. Chief Keef is a patsy. Rappers are scapegoats. It's easy to look at someone like Chief Keef and say, "He's the problem. Look at his videos. Listen to his music. He's violent. There's no wonder there's so much violence in Chicago."
Fest says Chief Keef is "a tool used for collateral damage" and that he is a "spokesperson for the Prison Industrial Complex." Let's try to break this down because it is apparently not as obvious as some might think. Some prisons are privately-owned corporations. The sole goal of corporations is to make a profit--i.e. to make more money than they are spending. The profit potential of prisons is based on them having prisoners. More prisoners means more money. A huge source of prisoners comes from the neighborhoods that Chief Keef comes from. The music that Chief Keef makes is largely about destruction and negativity. It glorifies the same violence that results in people who look like Chief Keef and are from neighborhoods like Chicago being locked up and put in prison cells. The music that the Chief Keefs make serves as the motivation for people, particularly in violent inner cities, to continue what they've been doing, which in large urban cities like Chicago has meant indulging in all kinds of behavior that has been deemed violent and criminal.
Chief Keef is not to blame.
Others are to blame. Fest says labels and radio stations are to blame. I don't see what's wrong with him speaking on that.
There are other culprits, too. Who? Chief Keef's environment--the streets of Chicago--is to blame. Poverty is to blame. Corporations exploiting for financial profit is to blame. Politicians pandering to lobbyists is to blame. Capitalism is to blame. Just to name a few.
I don't see how anyone can read what Fest wrote and say it was unintelligent or intellectually dishonest.
