Did you miss the part after the "and"? HOF QB and WR and number 1 D should be able to win a playoff game...no?
For an historicallly inept franchise? The Lions were not some stacked team that Stafford played on

And they'd have a playoff win if not for the refs in 2015 against Dallas

And the Lions didn't have a #1 defense for all of Stafford's tenure, they had 1 season where they had a top 5 ranked defense his entire time there.

History aint got nothing to do with right now. Same historically inept franchise was in the NFC chip game last year.

They would have a playoff win if the offense didn't take the 2nd half off. Or maybe if he wasnt throwing oops to 6'10 nikkas when WR were wide open in a winnable game in GB in which Rodgers got hurt and had to leave for some time and they win the division and host a playoff game rather than going to Dallas.

Lions were no better for having him and did all they could to help him out...3 TE in the first rd in a decade :mjlol:.

I didnt say they did for the entire tenure. But the point is they weren't historically bad his whole time there. There were chances and he didnt deliver. What HOF QB goes to a bad team (thats where top picks usually go) for a decade and makes 0 difference? Lions got plenty of 7-9 and 9-7 and making the playoffs and going 0 fer seasons in their history...with decent to average or even worse QBs. So why aint the HOFer fair any better?

He gave a historically bad franchise 4 winning seasons in his time there when they hadn't had one since 2000. He gave them their first double digit winning seasons since 1995. He got them to the playoffs 3 times when they hadn't been there since 1999. Your argument can't possibly be that he made zero difference. The idea that the environment shouldn't matter is not realistic.

Same shyt happened in the 90s with the likes of Erik Kramer, Rodney Peete, Scott Mitchell, and Gus Ferrote at QB. nikkas act like the Lions went 0-16 every year for 50 years.

I don't think he should get it. Guys like Stafford, Rivers, Matt Ryan, Eli, Ben. All good QBs but not quite HOF career imo. Between these guys, Ben is probably the closest to HOF career. Won the SB 2x, has the most yardage thrown between them, second most TDs.

Also the Pro Bowl and All-Pro argument moving Forward is going to get odd. The modern Big 4 are all in the same conference so they can't rack up Bowls on one another.

And since AP1 QB = MVP you can't knock somebody for not having 3 or 4 AP1s.

MAHOMES HAS 6
LAMAR HAS 4
ALLEN HAS 3
BURROW HAS 2

THEYLL ALL HAVE
ATLEAST 7 WHEN ITS
ALL SAID AND DONE

I don’t think it’s clear that Eli is a Hall of Famer. Breh caught lightning in a bottle twice in those Super Bowl wins and his career has been overrated ever since

When they did a straw poll last year, HOF voters said Eli ain’t in.

There were certainly better QB’s than Eli when he was playing. I would take Stafford over him.

With that being said, I think he gets in because of the two Super Bowl Championships and being in the New York market. I just think that’s how it plays out.

Stafford benefited GREATLY from having Megatron as the league became more pass friendly. Granted he was under ownership that was completely trash during his prime years while still putting up numbers.

However there’s individual accolades that’s missing from his resume that would push him further up in the GOAT/HOF. Having a Super Bowl helps him a lot but I wouldn’t be surprised if he does go in.

I agree with you about Big Ben.

I think Big Ben is a lock, and I’m someone that is probably tougher than most on who I would vote in.

Eli will likely get in, but the other Les you mentioned should not.

The HOF should be for the elite if the elite. Matt Ryan had an MVP year, but he’s not a HOF caliber QB.

Eli made some clutch plays in big games when his team needed them, but he never carried his team like these other guys in the regular season.

Here's a comparison on their numbers - Ben Roethlisberger Phillip Rivers Eli Manning Matt Stafford Matt Ryan Stats Compared | StatMuse

Eli is last in yards, TDs, pct, yards/g.

In my opinion, to make the HOF you have to be considered one of the best players in your position for multiple years - you have to be an All Pro player multiple times. Only Matt from these group of guys have made the All Pro and he did it one year.

Agreed on Ben...and not first ballot either. Peyton, Tom, Aaron, and Brees the only first ballot guys of that era.
