Nah, I'm not hearing this whole "2nd half falls off" talk on repeated listens. Outside of the Mariah track, shyt is still quality

Peace Sign and Sorry are smooth as fukk. Very Best is dope with how the beat builds up. D.O.P.E. got some great keys on it. Foreclosures and Money Dance are already solidified and Carol City is hard as fukk.

I didnt like Hood Billionaire or Mastermind, GFID was # 3 but I think Black Market is better.

Trilla Ross was too "raw" and "rough around the edges", he was still finding himself. I think Deeper Than Rap is when he found himself, and Teflon Don he perfected himself, and them Black Market is him finally giving us the lyrical content to match is amazing style.

Ross has the Mechanics and tools to be top 10 DOA when it comes to Rapping the Raps, the issue is he found his style and flow before he found the lyrical content that wa for him.

Ross always rapped about being a boss, but his raps were the typically "I wanna be like the Italians and just trick off on stuff", Ross has finally introduced lyrical content that will take up from top 30 DOA to at least Top 15. I have yet to see someone say Ross can't rap, its always some diss about the CO crap.

Ross has literally rapped with most of the Top 10 DOA and has held his own, while most others would get washed.

Like Ross is the only guy I have seen rap with Jay and Nas and come off has he is at least in their league, and they are rapping together opposed to it being "Hey I got Jay on my song to make it better".

I think when its all said and done haters aside Ross will be one of those Raekwon and Kool G types that people who respect the art form put in their top list, because avg publication talks about crap like album sales, when many of the best rap songs were not on platinum albums.

I think Ross has always had the lyrical content, but decided to slowly ease into the social issues. He has always sprinkled in little hints here and there but now has really started to lay it on. His whole process of creating his rap persona is nothing short of amazing. He knew what themes to rap about to catch attention and he went full throttle. At this point in the game, his place is solidified and he can just do him.

Off my first couple listens I rate this album a 4/5 to 4.25. If you throw in Geechi Liberace, Icon, and a few others and remove the filler it could be a 4.5.

I think this album is better than GFID and slightly ahead of Mastermind. It's in his upper tier with Teflon and Deeper Than Rap.

This album bangs. Production is serious! But Ross's ear for beats has always been the shyt.

The second half is a little softer, but I dig the Mariah record. She killed that! Her original was classic, so I liked how they brought that back for the joint. And you're doing alright if you can get both Mary and Mariah on the same album. LOL!!

And "Carol City" is CRAZY!!

Personal ranking of Ricky albums

1. Mastermind - His most consistent album with the least amount of poppy/girl and unnecessary trap songs (also has incredible bonus songs)
2. Teflon Don - Would probably be #1 if it was lengthier
3a. Hood Billionaire - Songs went hard as fukk and overall very consistent but personally I prefer epic soulful/introspective/Justice League type-ish Ross
3b. Black Market - Jury still out on this one obviously but could be 3 or 4 on my list
4. GFID - Middle of the album is very lukewarm. From 911 to Touch N You is :patrice:Take away those songs and this would be damn near a classic
5. Deeper Than Rap - I know this is a personal favorite for most, but IMO a lot of the songs did not age very well
6. Trilla
7. Port of Miami
