I still think 50 is salty because he thought he could end Ross’s career and it didn’t happen. That’s when he realized he was washed.
50 knew he was washed when he lost that album sales race to Kanye.

Ross always gave the illusion he was bigger than he was. I was shocked that he had never gone platinum before or at least in the time period he seemed big
His debut is platinum....After that he never reached that status again.
I think it was a case of going platinum eventually, when the context when we talk that stuff is usually out the gate/during the window of release and marketing.

No. Ross wasnt even cracking gold at a point. T.I and Jeezy were passed their prominence and were still far bigger names than Ross.
Whats so hard to believe? As somebody already said, Ross was never that big of a name. TBH he got carried by all the big name features hes worked with over the years. At his most prominent hes was at best a C level star. His artistry was on point but he was never hot like that.
