Teflon Don ain't platinum? That don't sound right.
Whats so hard to believe? As somebody already said, Ross was never that big of a name. TBH he got carried by all the big name features hes worked with over the years. At his most prominent hes was at best a C level star. His artistry was on point but he was never hot like that.
Because in 2010 he was really that big. Teflon Don was a big deal.Whats so hard to believe? As somebody already said, Ross was never that big of a name. nikka stop. nikka really tried to sneak Nas in "S" he does NOT belong with those names. Ross was never no damn A list celebrity, no matter how you flip it.If Nas/Jay/Drake/Kendrick/Em/Wayne/Kanye are S Tier Ross was a weak A or Strong B.

So just doing some research, by 2012 it sold 724K records.

So that album is definitely platinum by now. Maybe he just hasn't certified it.
He was never a big selling artist. His first album went plat and none of his following albums came close.Thats not true
He was one of the biggest selling rap artists of the 2010s.
No, he wasnt THAT big. As good as Teflon Don was, that album as a whole didnt make that much noise; as opposed to a few singles (BMF, Aston Martin Music).Because in 2010 he was really that big. Teflon Don was a big deal.
I think it was a case of going platinum eventually, when the context when we talk that stuff is usually out the gate/during the window of release and marketing.
Thnx for correcting me.That shyt went platinum more than 10 years later lol
I also think it speaks to having white fans. I can't imagine Ross white fanbase is at a higher percentage than his black fanbase just due to the type of artist he is. Him not being able to fully reach a different target audience may have hurt his popularity as well.another case of after the fact. The album felt bigger than it was, but I think during that time it was gold Max. But credit to ross as going platinum eventually is a testament to quality as people continue to listen or support vs it being microwave music.

Show proof.
Who were the other hip hop artist he was going up against?
This has nothing to do with. Ross flat out didn't have star power like contemporaries. All it comes down to.Ross's music imo is like Big Krit, sonically pleasing a soulful, something that just doesn't connect with non-blacks. Like there isn't quantitative element they can just look at and get loll. And Ross was never trendy where it's like "ok everyone else is doing it so I will do it too" like you see with say Cash Money's run.
