Def Jam is shyt as far as hiphop artist as of late, but Epic aint much better far as I can tell:mjlol:

Epic aint do shyt to promote Future properly until he did all the heavy lifting and got himself hot as shyt in this streets/clubs,had a hot single from a tape and buzz was just crazy....I don't think Ross can do these things for himself, especially at this point in his career.

Then again maybe Future isn't as hands on,or know how to play the political game with the people in the offices the way Ross does....but Epic and Def Jam seem one in the same,i guess you might as well go with the one who you don't KNOW aint shyt:mjlol:

The point duke made was "all you need is social media and stuff and you got marketing down pat." Well, those artists dominate Twitter and IG and all that and we all know who they are by now. Taylor Swift's not coming off 1989 thinking "shyt lemme get this indie money." That's for artists who kinda know their best days are behind them. Ross doesn't think he's there yet. Tip didn't think he was there yet when he was demanding $80 mil for Grand Hustle and went with Sony. Now he's independent because life came at him fast and he's accepted where his career is.

Nas is planning on going independent.

Nope. If they giving me a Mill upfront. I'm taking it. The fukk I look like spending my own money to make 3 dollars. That's hustling BACKWARDS!
they ain't GIVING you shyt... you owe every dime of that 1 million back breh.. and they will be in your pockets forever until you get it... and when it's shown you not gonna make it back, they are now in control of everything you're allowed to do from selling music, to doing shows, to appearing on features

This is the first time I've heard of an...let's say "established"...rapper going to Epic.
Usually they try to get away.

You have to think about it from HIS viewpoint... RICK RO$$ is already an established artist with fans...

He could tour for a minute come back pay for some banging tracks self produce the album in house and release it all digitally... :dahell: He could make a killing if the shyt is hot by itself, and guess what a ton of the proceeds he doesnt have to cut with anyone!!!

You not seeing the big picture, you know when you take that check the record companies own you, any work you make under them, they own!!! you dont OWN it... :dahell:
i mean people in here saying indy is dumb

as if the game didn't just do 170k indy.... about 120k more than ross on a major :sas2:

Guess Def Jam is putting all of their eggs into Kanye, Big Sean, and No I.D. now.

Also I'm still :mindblown: at the fact that there's only three major labels left in the industry. Any label you can think of is pretty much owned by Universal, Sony BMG or Warner. Not like Ross had too many other places to go.

Defjam is really slipping. I didn't realize it until Nore pointed it out on his Breakfast club interview. But Ross, Jeezy, Kiss, Jeremih these are some of their biggest acts and they dropped the ball on ALL of 'em. :dahell:
That August Alsina leak and lack of promo....:beli:
