Epic is a major or a indie label? if he's back on a major dude got these companies in a scramble blowing big money on him. it also shows he's far more profitable than 50 Cent.

A major

But this isn't a great look for Ross.

Everyone shyttin on Def Jam but y'all shytted on Def Jam back when they threw the older rappers in the bushes to focus on the R&B singers they had and who do you think ran that?

L.A. Reid.

The only reason why some of y'all like this is because Future is on there and let's be honest: 1. Y'all shytted on that label too when Fewtcha dropped Honest AND 2. For all the hype Future is riding on you'd think his numbers would be better than what they are. Rozay just hopping on another sinking ship.

That said, :mjlol:@ everyone saying he should go independent as if he has that kind of clout to do that. If it was that easy, why wouldn't stars who clearly don't need majors still be on them?

If you invest your money and flop, you just might be dead broke for real.

If I take an advance from the label I can use that money for damn near anything. 20 kilos a couple of cash businesses to launder my money. The label put me on the shelf, they can't actively be trying to get their money back. The artist wins.

Don't ask the label shyt just put out a carzy mixtape if it catches fire they gone try and gain off that.

If the crux of your business plan is "buy 20 kilos" then you need a new plan. And probably a lawyer.

I dont know nikkas get awestruck when they see that bonus money... :yeshrug: All I know is I remember the video of cam and 50 arguing but cam made a point that stood out to me about sales....

300K on a major vs 300K independent... think about it.... The major your getting fukked on those return profits, an independant where you getting a lion's share of it back which is the better deal???

Right.. That's what all these rappers claim they did with their advance money including your idol Curtis "The Informant" Jackson

I dunno if you're a bit slow or what....but I never been a fan of 50. Let alone idolized. I dunno who you got me confused with.

fukk what these rappers are talking about, you're the one trying to rationalize why slanging dope is preferable to an indie rap career.

:dead: at "well that's what rappers claim" like I'm supposed to :jbhmm: "you know what breh, that's actually a good idea".

You're missing why artists sign to majors.

1. Your ceiling is capped in terms of being a star. You're there because your dwindling core fans keep coppin. At that point you've given up on regaining any stardom you had or gaining new fans. That's a hard pill to swallow if you still view yourself as a star.

2. Venues are much more favorable towards booking artists on majors. Publishing, same thing. Long story short, Rozay may not have the clout to book big time venues whereas a major still gets his foot in the door.

The only reason why you as a fan would rather see them indie is because you think they'll make music more in line with what you prefer (no label meddling, no forced tracks) but an artist also knows that fanbase doesn't buy shyt so it defeats the purpose.

Put it like this: everyone's favorite darling on here (Curren$y) is still on a major. He just has more freedom to do whatever because Atlantic ain't betting the house on him.

Good move for Ross, it's clear Def Jam doesn't know what the fukk they're doing lately and Epics building up a hell of a roster.

Epic Records is the SAME SHYT...DIFFERENT TOILET.......

Along with LA REIDS the president...over half the staff are former Def Jam personal whom also helped contribute to that label's demise

as I've said earlier....their is only 3 RECORD COMPANIES in the WORLD.... (WARNER, SONY and UNIVERSAL)

And all three have had DOUG MORRIS and his usual suspects (Sylvia rhone, La Reid, Lyor Cohen)

Defjam is really slipping. I didn't realize it until Nore pointed it out on his Breakfast club interview. But Ross, Jeezy, Kiss, Jeremih these are some of their biggest acts and they dropped the ball on ALL of 'em. :dahell:

the only one they droppped the ball on was jeremih. he's the only one who right now has the potential to grow and build a fanbase.

ross and jeezy are done as major commercial artists. kiss been done for some time. why on earth would you invest in any of them in 2016 when you could find new, young talent that understands how to connect with a new age of consumers.

EPIC is another sinking ship ran by LA Reid who should have hung it up years ago. Future flopped twice with them and it wasn't until he put in work with his mixtape grind that he got some decent #s. Reid aint have shyt to do with that. Even now he shyt is no where near pushing gold.

Epic's main priorities are Megan Trainor and 5th Harmony. Their white moneymakers.

If Rozay want them #s up, he gotta go out there and grind.
