They listed Ciara, Diddy, Yo Gotti and Outkast and think Ross joining the party would be a good look :mjlol:

hilarious
They listed some of the coldest artists outside of Future and OutKast group collectively haven't released a full-length collaborative project since Stankonia. I don't count SB/TLB or Idlewild. Epic is looking like LaFace and Arista in the 90s and early 2000s.

:what: U think Ross is looking to put in all that work to make 250k profit? Do u know how much work goes into doing it yourself

The fukk is wrong wit u, talking bout making all the profit like He selling all these records.

If u don't think he can make those same amounts of profit on a major u stupid, being on a major gains u fame and its up to u how u gon finesse that fame into whatever u want. More than likely he didn't sign a 360 deals so wit the labels promo he can make that money off just touring instead of putting all his own money up and failing and losing it all.

Not to mention u know how much money alone would he be putting into just beats?

:mjlol: So you telling me that an ALREADY famous rapper signed a deal to gain more fame because he's too lazy to do his own album himself, knowing full and well the music created under the new contract won't be his entirely though right???
:heh:

Is this a Win or What???

It ain't about being lazy, it's about it not being worth the probably 250 he gon gain from all that hard work

Gaining 250 for spitta is great, for a rapper who's made the money Ross made is a failure and wouldn't even pay his bills

And yea staying on the canvases mind, going on ESPN, tonight show, letterman and shyt like that cost money

"But but but the music won't be his" He not selling anything regardless

that's cool and all when you not famous

how much more fame do you think a man 10 years in the game is about to get breh?

he gonna parlay this into 55 wing stops instead of 25? get some kfc money now?

nikka is already past his prime with album sales... look at the numbers.. it's in a decline..

all this work.... they are called indy labels... you not putting the shyt out yourself.. you just taking less of an advance with less of a budget, using your money to make up the rest and getting a much larger profit

now i see how the labels been jerking nikkas for 40 years straight... rapper after rapper after rapper comes out and shows you all the mistakes and problems with a major... and how once they got the fame, they go indy and try to escape that label..... and still nikkas wake up everyday like... b-b-b-b-b-b-but they gonna make me famous tho.... famous and broke and crying on the shelf

Can somebody please tell me how a label like epic makes money from ross? Ross doesn't sell records or do big tours
and this is the real and ONLY question...

so many things going on in this thread.... none of them facts

ross got money.... says who??? ross?? a known liar and perpetrator... how much money he got? how much money has he made so far? somebody on here doing his taxes?? no.... so right there we don't know what a lot of money is to him, cause we have no idea what money he was getting

what IS fact.... he didn't have any leverage when he signed his deal with def jam... so he was probably locked in some fukked up deal already... and he was already signed to some other nikkas, so they was dipping in those pockets too... he got a big label deal... but he don't have any mega stars... and did anyone see that deal? no... so you don't even know if he doing anything off that

now what is epic doing? not throwing away money is one thing.... you think they signed him to a straight deal.... they got the same numbers we got... so they gonna sign a rapper who never sold shyt, and they not getting access to his label... but they gonna just make him rich while not making any money off the sales?? and then they don't want any touring or merch or any other money... yes just take our millions and we'll be straight with your 200k breh

come on now.... he back in another 360, cause unless you selling plat, you in a 360 these days... AUTOMATIC... fukking jay-z in a 360.. you think these other nikkas ain't??

but where def jam might have had him in a 15% of everything 360, epic could have him in a 2% of everything 360

here's all you need to know about the music business.... the person with the most money, makes the rules... epic didn't get to be a major by pissing away money... they got a staff full of nikkas making 80k plus, who do nothing but crunch numbers all day... they are not in the business of making you rich, they are in the business of making THEM rich... so you better believe this deal is benefiting epic all the way around

What's business do you own? You listen to people that want you take loans because they benefit from it. In this business using your own money is better if you're already established. Slim Thug lives a better life than most rappers on a major.
Slim thug is an exception, not the rule. Name 5 other artists in the game as saturated as it is that has it even similar to Slim Thug.

Businesses network everyone does. Google and Apple and Microsoft share patents. I said this in the movie thread about Mike Epps, Steven Spielberg and George Lucas are friends, they loan each other money and finance each others films and split profits, Spielberg and Ron Howard---these people are friends they put their money together, they break bread with each other. If Michael Bay wants to put out a money and he needs financing to get his ideas off the ground guess what, he calls his friends. He doesn't just go indie, spending his own cash just to do what he wants. Movies flop all the times but directors dont get fired, it's the game. Its business.

The game aint free even if you're rich. Sure Spike Lee can go to locations and find people that will let him shoot with no permits (shooting on location and in areas require permits to cities $$$) hell he can find people to edit his movies and do shyt for free because he's Spike Lee and they want to come up.

Ross could start reachin out to cats on soundcloud, he can find some really talented and dope beat makers, find some dope cats to mix and master the beats, even get some bars and clubs to let him perform for free (as in he doesnt have to pay to rent the place out, but still gets a percentage of the door), he might be able to find some cats to press physical discs for him and some type of distrubution locally but he isn't going to be on sale in walmart and target (i dont know who else sells cds) and he isn't going platinum that way no how. You could argue that well for free even 25K is good or 50K. But it's not.

i think you skipped over the words ESTABLISHED ARTIST

first off... most artists never even get off their first deal... cause most deals are 5-6-7 albums long... and unless you selling that whole time... you're not going to get to release that many

and yes.... when most artists complete that deal..... they go indy... tell us all the rappers who completed a deal (not dropped) and went back to another major
