Cole has had the machine behind him since day 1.
No one thought he could end up being the 2nd biggest rapper in the game. (excluding legends like Jay and Kanye) but the building has been behind Cole since day 1
Meanwhile Adele sitting on 6 Million legit copies sold in just a few months
These artist gotta learn to not whore themselves out jumping on everything, releasing trash singles, tricking your core fan base into supporting that wack shyt. She shoulda never let Travis Scott near this album.
Blah,
Taylor Swift sold her album for .99 cents before.
You act like Selling records mean define relevance in music
He didn't say it like that, but CHarlemagne said Cole was winning and Wale said he's signed to the label so the intention he gets is different. It was in his Breakfast Club interview. As for all this stuff about labels @nikkaz In Paris and I had a long discussion about thatYeah, anyone who followed Cole's situation knew this was going on. It was clear as day, the sky is fukking blue, kind of shyt.
Got a link? I haven't heard Wale say that. I've heard Wale say that roc nation was going in a different direction and focusing on athletes. He's also joked that light skinned rappers (Cole, Drake) have it easier than him.
Because Madonna and Britney could singEasy to say that, none of these artists will pop in the 90's especially Rihannasnon singing ass, that lane was already taken by other artists/
This is what is wrong with America. No one cares about the principle. Just a bunch of low lives sucking the life out of the spirit and nature of things.
Beyonce is somewhere laughing hearing Rhianna "sold" 1 million in a week. At this point there is no low Jay-Z is not willing to go.
We know Beyonce dropped a true "Black Album" like B.I.G. talked about and did numbers. Beyonce is just looking at the fukkery shaking her head.
.....& trying to get her own 25mill deal. People kill me with the "Beyonce is on a higher level " bullsht. She's been in this game since she was a preteen and she knows what time it is. She's (tried) to do what it takes to stay at the top of the heap: tried to go pop, tried raunchy, collabs with rappers you name it.
I'm confused. What does 2005 have to do with right now? Rihanna's album is number 1 on iTunes in 50 countries, and she has not released an album in 4 years...why wouldn't she do at least 400k? More people heard her song with Drake than Adele's Hello on it's first day. I This is different than when she was dropping back to back to back. The 400k has nothing to do with the other million. If Jay Z sold 500k first week after doing what he did, why wouldn't Rihanna after a 4 year hiatus? Justin Beiber just had a monster first week, one larger than he had ever had before after a 3 year hiatus and is sitting at something like 3.3 million sold worldwide. Why would Rihanna who is a bigger star than him not do the same? Please explain. The 400k has nothing to do with Tidal, fam, just say you don't follow the charts and be honest breh![]()
I'm not a Beyonce fan and I like Rhianna. I'm interested in seeing how this play out, and I feel giving albums out for free makes sense and folks have been going for this model.
But let's call a spade a spade, artists are selling.
The low sales argument is a cop out because its mostly below average rappers like Future who are flopping and down south rappers who can't get people to buy the Jungle music they making.
J. Cole is selling. Kendrick Lamar is selling. If Lil Wayne ever drops, I guarantee you he does not flop.
Yeah, shyt crazy. Rita Ora never really stood a chance, just too similar in style to Rihanna and not as good as a talent.
This is basically the music equivalent of a wall-street bailout.
Rihanna is too popular and valuable to the overall operation to fail, so they throw her a lifeboat and juke the numbers. She's big enough to qualify for this, but her brand is hurting if they have to this
The issue I have is that it is setting a precedent, and is 100% based in deceit.
Idk. Ora is technically a better singer than Rihanna. .
