“The search efforts resumed Monday morning for the venerated chef who was last seen wearing all black without a lifejacket.

His paddle board and hat were recovered Sunday - and his body was found around 10am Monday in the eight-foot-deep waters approximately 100 feet away from shore.”

R.I.P. It’s a shame what his wife and kids are about to go through from all the idiots on social media.

My dad was just clowning me a lil bit over the weekend cause I told him I'm not about to get on a boat until I learn how to swim. He was like :childplease:it's easy, you can lay on your back and float, nothing to be worried about.

I said, I hear you dad, but it would be just my luck to get on a boat and it go down and I'm the only fool on there that can't swim and wind up drowning.

If you are on a cruise ship or a large motored yacht, you should be fine.

If you're on a sailboat of any kind, the standards require that you wear a life jacket.

If you are on a small vessel like a canoe, a pontoon, or a paddle board, it's required that you wear a life jacket.

The only small vessel that you don't wear a life jacket is a rowing shell but most people are not rowing athletes so would never be in that situation.

But if it's a large motored vessel, you should be fine.

I've been out in open water on paddle boards and it's very easy to lose your balance and fall off. If one is not trained or have a coach with them, it's very easy to start panicking. Even more if you didn't take the safety precautions of having a life jacket and the leash attached to you. I always go out with experienced coaches who are there to guide you in situations like that. The number one thing is to stay calm and listen to your coaches.
