This is my thing, agree or disagree with someone but it is a cowardice act to wait till someone is dead to criticize them ON TOP OF doing it on the day the person is dead. Most of these people are nobodies, but someone like Marc Lamont Hill could have had a "debate" with the Ancestor while she was alive if "Homophobia" is a topic he felt is important, would this not have been good for the community to have the convo for all to see and discuss? This is what makes these people pathetic. Like someone else said its going to be UGLY the day Farrakhan passes.

I agree. The sentiment is that the black LGBT community is very much isolated on all fronts. The narrative that they are allied to white LGBT groups is false as since I've become more socially aware of such movements, there is a clear separation between the two and black gays (as well as feminists) are more than willing to acknowledge racism and white supremacy, especially of late. The issue lies in the narrative that homosexuality is a weapon against black progression, which ultimately puts black people who are gay/lesbian/trans at odds with everyone else who conforms to that narrative and labels them deviants and only welcomes them with the caveat that they must somehow rid themselves of their sexuality - which they obviously cannot do.

So a debate probably would be a fruitless endeavor regardless because black people still believe that the LGBT community is a tool of white supremacy, and would continue to believe it in the aftermath.

It's one thing if the last 20 yrs you have been publicly vocal on someone, but even then on the day someone dies you dont do this kind of stuff unless you are publicly declaring you feel this person was an enemy to you.

Been a fan of her work for years, I used to listen to her on local radio for the past few years and had the pleasure of hearing her, Dr. Umar and others live on one occasion. Her passing leaves a cavernous void that wont be readily filled. It's a damn shame the turmoil she dealt with in regards to her home in her last days and no1 of prominence stepped up to help her.
