If Markelle panned out and became who they thought he would be, then they wouldn’t have the made the trade for Butler and Tobias. They gave up a lot to get both players and wouldn’t have had to if it worked. Instead of Tobias, they could have had a max contract and assets they could have put elsewhere to the team.

Also remember they gave up a a first round pick just to move up 2 spots to #1 just to get him eventhough Boston was going to take Tatum regardless. Boston put out feelers that they wanted Fultz and Philly took the bait and fell for it.
