The Memphis Grizzlies aren't expected to entertain trading Ja Morant just yet. But if they do, rival front office executives will be watching to see if Jaren Jackson Jr. becomes available if Memphis trades Morant.

Jackson workout a renegotiation-and-extension deal with the Grizzlies this past offseason. That has Jackson tied to Memphis through 2029-30 at $240 million. If the Grizzlies trade Morant, it could make sense to move Jackson and to kick off a full rebuild. Multiple teams would be expected to show interest if Jackson was made available.

If Memphis were to trade Morant and Jackson, they could pivot to building a younger core featuring Cedric Coward, Zach Edey and Jaylen Wells. The Grizzlies acquired several first-round picks when they traded Desmond Bane, and would presumably add more in deals for Morant and Jackson.

I could see it happening. They won't be able to get anywhere near equal value for Ja. That's why I don't understand why they waited so long.

The Grizzles lease with the Fedex Forum expires after the 28-29 season. Them going full tank mode might end up resulting in the team leaving the city altogether.
Memphis ain't got much going for it. I could see the rationale in searching for more profitable markets

they'd most likely go right down the street to nashville
Alot of teams in need of a 6-10 center that spams 3s and doesn't rebound. :troll:
honestly - if you got space eaters on your roster already, he's a great addition

i just never liked the idea of him being some kind of anchor that can turn any team in the league into a top 10 defense
