Finally watched this on HBO Max last night.

Goodness.

It left me sad. When David Choe (I think it was him) was talking about how he realized that Anthony Bourdain didn't really beat addiction -- Bourdain's addiction just jumped. From heroin to cooking to traveling to jiu jitsu and being a family man....etc... And ultimately he was back on (or still on) a path toward destruction, it was just a sad epiphany.

I miss that guy. Bourdain was such a curious man. A great writer. Obviously flawed, but maybe that's what so many people identified with.

I thought it was a well done documentary. You don't learn a whole lot about his youth but maybe it's just hard to get that from anyone since I believe I read that most of his friends back then died of drugs. Not sure if I read that in Kitchen Confidential or somewhere else.
