So is this why I developed Munchausen by proxy syndrome, and still force my momma to diet, study, and get constant plastic surgery? Because my friends told me so many jokes about how she so fat, stupid, and ugly? It all makes sense now

Bruh, what? Roasting was practiced by Roman and Spartan soldiers to display wit, shrewdness, and character building. If you were getting roasted and you couldn’t come up with a witty response, they would sometimes punish you, especially if you being groomed for a leadership role
Spartans called the practice laconic phrase and it basically means “clap back” in modern terms. Putin is the is one of the most flagrant leaders that does it

Like can you really roast someone for having nice hair or eyes? It's usually a feature that you're not 100% confident about.
What you do afterwards is up to you. You can either cry about it or roast back or don't give anyone a reason to roast you.

I got roasted (i told this story on here before) for coming back to class from the restroom with a Single bead of sweat on my forehead...class Bully Roasted me so Bad the teacher was chuckling behind the book he was reading...shyt was TRAUMATIZING!
next day nobody remembered that shyt( no pun intended)...
Its a mind game...if i would have owned up to it and announced "ight,everybody im about to go take a shyt..." It wouldn't have been embarrassing...i was an Ole big Quiet ass nikka...
Anyway, now that im older,i realized that people take shyts sometimes...and that's ok...

I don’t think it causes insecurities unless it’s something you can’t change, like skin complexion or height.

smh Roasting builds character and keeps you mentally sharp.
1. Makes you observant of your surroundings...if somebody talkin a lil too crazy, use everything from the crease in their sneakers to their fukked up lineup. This is observational learning
2. Refines your Emotional Intelligence and improves self awareness. *damn, i did too much with my outfit...this shyt dont match. nikkas gonna flame me at the lunch table. Better be prepared
3. Improves Mental Health - having to come up with quick lines on the fly is a form of creative expression. Studies found creative expression reduces anxiety and depression. You could paint, pick up an instrument, or roast a nikka.
4. Improves Mood - Laughter reduces cortisol levels and releases endorphines.
I should do a Ted Talk on this subject

It’s true but unfortunately black men have Stockholm syndrome and think that violence, toxicity, and distrust/contempt of one another are healthy behaviors that build character and turn you into a “man.”

I used to get roasted. Sometimes I gave as good as I got but I was a big ugly mutherfukker, lanky and goofy. I grew into my body and looks after high school so it was great but them middle school/freshman roasting sessions really did have you feeling like not showing up to class or school. The school bus coming back from basketball games was the worst because we rode with the seniors and if you got picked out it could be a 2 hour long bus ride destruction. I was lucky because my older cuz was good at hooping and popular so he would make sure I didn’t get it but the guys that did would be in near tears.
I transferred to a mostly white school in high schools and it was crazy how friendly everyone was when I got there lol. I was mad suspicious like I was being set up but you definitely felt the difference in atmosphere.
Looking back a lot of those bullies were bullied at home and wound up dead or in jail so you want to take some satisfaction but you realize they were victims themselves
