One of next year’s most hotly anticipated horror movies is the Robert Eggers (The Witch, The Lighthouse, The Northman) remake of Nosferatu, which Focus Features hasn’t yet dated for release. Nevertheless, today brings a first look image courtesy of Empire Magazine!

Eggers tells Empire in their 2024 Preview, “It’s a scary film. It’s a horror movie. It’s a Gothic horror movie. And I do think that there hasn’t been an old-school Gothic movie that’s actually scary in a while. And I think that the majority of audiences will find this one to be the case.”

The only remake of this I have seen is the Werner Herzog, but seeing as how dedicated Robert Eggers is too maintaining atmosphere and tension, this should be good.

I really really really hope this will be one of those real serious dark movies from the beginning to the end. I'm sick and tired of "horror" movies feeling they need to lighten the atmosphere and insert jokes here and there. Hopefully with Eggers this one is gloomy and bleak all the way through. Sorry for the rant lol but it's really something that pisses me off in a lot of "horror" movies.

No, you are absolutely correct. The "insert joke" into what should be a terrifying movie is a screenwriters crutch. Tension should never be lifted, I have faith in Eggers making this dark and serious

Just watched Hellhouse LLC, that was a good example of what a horror movie should be. That was a creepy ass movie

Big fan of Eggers, but thank fukk he decided to cast Bill Skarsgard and not Alexander. I feel like Alexnader Skarsgard is the white version of Anthony Mackie. Dude has no range and was so unbelievably boring in The Northman. I believe his performance single-handedly made the movie go from an 8/10 to a 7/10.
