Robert Glasper goes IN on Lauryn Hill

I feel what he said is his opinion, from a hating ass jazz musician. And since he considers himself a jazz musician at heart, Id call him chicken hearted. From what I’ve known about Lauryn Hill from other bandmates that have been on the road with her, yes she has problems but it’s mostly confidence related. She’s called crazy rehearsal times and will be late, she never could decide on what to wear so she’d have a million different wardrobe changes BEFORE the show. More or less from their descriptions of her, I gathered she was/is emotionally unstable, maybe indirectly because of her success. All in all, she’s way beyond talented so to say she stole this and that is just nikkas trying to shyt on her.

She don’t even got to try as hard as this nikka Glasper has and she’s received more accolades than he will ever receive.

I just hate jazz musicians because I was in that camp years ago too and I see how clownish these guys are. They really be on some school bullshyt. I’ve even opened for Glasper in a jazz festival in Sete last year so I’ve seen his shyt up close and know what type of weak ass show he puts on. Like I said, the only respect you CAN give him is that he’s theoretical but nobody dancing to that bullshyt. You made music for us to sit down and DIE to, not get up and dance and be ALIVE.

You can tell they only give these kind of cats respect because the “establishment” gives them degrees and calls them “the future”.

Did she cut wages in half on last rehearsal?

Does she audition other musicians mid tour run?

Does she constantly make sweeping changes to the set list?

Does she force you to call her Ms. Hill and require you to not look her in the eye?

Does she not pay musicians?

And, truth be told, I am focusing on him because things like you listed are standard IF the show isn’t working out. People debate contracts and pay ALL THE TIME. If she feels the musicians she hired weren’t working out, SHE CAN AUDITION OTHERS.

All the things he mentioned are industry standard when you’re dealing with a production like hers.

He’s saying what he’s saying but in reality lauryn DOES have emotional issues stemming from her success. It’s sad to listen to another “artist” shyt on another.

And I get tired of jazz musicians specifically since I’ve been all around that shyt. These are conversation hating ass jazz school musicians have, not musicians.

That’s her MO but truth be told, other artists are the same, just not as bad as her. I remember Badu was caught taking a Calgon bath with candles and shyt in her hotel room when she was suppose to be ON STAGE already performing. That’s just how some of these singers are.

And the arrangements being different; that’s just a musicians curse. We don’t want to play the same song over and over again either and it kill creativity, so we always seek to expand on things. Trust me, it’s for the best.

Comedians don't be fukking up like this and all that applies to us. Y'all musicians got too many yes men around y'all. Completely understand the switching sets thing though.

It’s mostly a singer thing, really. Because they have to be the frontman for a lot of people.

And lauryn did have a lot of yes people around, because she was constantly feeling like everything she was doing was wrong/not good

If you’ve seen her live anytime in the last 10 years then you know the BS she’s been on.

I got suckered twice, I just knew in my heart that she would actually play the songs as recorded so the audience could sing along and participate again.


She must really not be allowed to use her original compositions. She’s still just playing these “artistic” ass uptempo remixed versions with a completely diff melody. All the audience could do is just sit quietly and watch as reality set in. Trash experience 1/10, and I used to stan for her.

Honestly your posts sound like what Glasper said was 100% true but since you don't like him you just gonna be sour. Either what he said was true or not, we don't need all the extra you throwing out.

You think his criticism doesn’t come from a place of sourness? Think about that. And I’ve dealt with him too so I know the shyt he’s on personally. But what’s worse, he hasn’t created ANYTHING classic...

It’s musicians criticising other musicians. But the one he picked DOES have issues AND, whether you think so or not, IS A BETTER ARTIST than he is...

The questions I listed were not me asking you, it was what Glasper claimed in the video. So if you want to address the situation, you have to address those points and say if they are true or false. He said “my viewpoint of her is “X” and I have come to this conclusion because of this, that, and another thing that involved me directly”. his accolades far exceed that of lauryn hills in that he's written/conducted/produced/composed more songs and albums than her; awards etc etc..

in fact, I believe that her inability to actually have created anything new or substantial in over 20 years now exposes her lack of true talent

it's cool to have opinions, but at some point your opinions and reality have to match up at some point or else you just come across as crazy
