So you've been lying to yourself for 20 years. Congrats
nobody uses defensive stats to judge defense. nobody, cause they are team based. coaches vote for all-defensive teams, im taking their opinions over someone just pulling shyt out their ass.

Kobe coasted off undeserving reputation almost his entire career. He was getting lit up 10 years ago in his prime

You just contradicted yourself. You said Kobe got his good stats from playing next to Shaq. Then you criticized Kobe for putting up bad stats next to Shaq. Which is it? Fact is, both players were the focus of the defense, just like Klay and Curry. Neither Shaq, nor Kobe would put up the numbers they did without each other.

You don't know what the word contradiction means. There is absolutely no conflict with what I said about Kobe getting his stats from playing with shaq, in fact you very clearly pointed out I was criticizing Kobes trash 04 finals which proves he was the sidekick when shaq was in town, which was my point all along
And look up shaqs stats when he was in Orlando and tell me shaq wouldn't put up the numbers without Kobe :mjlol:
And steph is THE focus of opposing team defenses, lol@ thinking klay gets as much attention as steph :beli:

But why is Kobe the only "elite defender" without good defensive stats?

Defensive first teams (Defensive rating, DBPM)
2008:
Kevin Garnett 94, 4.7
Bruce Bowen 105, 2.1
Kobe Bryant 105, -0.3
Marcus Camby 98, 6.6
Tim Duncan 97, 4.1

2009:
Kevin Garnett 98, 3.7
Chris Paul 103, 2.1
Kobe Bryant 106, -0.2
LeBron James 99, 3.6
Dwight Howard 95, 4.3

2010:
Kobe Bryant 104, -0.1
LeBron James 102, 2.8
Gerald Wallace 100, 2.9
Dwight Howard 95, 5.0
Rajon Rondo 103, 1.3

2011:
LeBron James 102, 2.1
Dwight Howard 94, 3.9
Kevin Garnett 95, 4.1
Kobe Bryant 105, -0.9
Rajon Rondo 100, 1.7

I went ahead and bolded the worst numbers in each year to make it easier for you. It's probably confusing that a lower number is better in defensive rating while a higher number is better in DBPM. Why does this keep happening? Should we assume that Defensive Rating and DBPM are meaningless numbers like FG% and PER that were designed specifically to discredit Kobe while somehow harming no other players in process? Please advise.[/B]

There are tons of flaws with defensive stats..highly dependant on teammates and the position you play..I'm willing to go more in depth later but for now

Opinion of coaches >> stats

OK. I'll be waiting for your explanation of why Kobe is the only defender that these stats seem to lie about.

Actually, it's you who doesn't know the meaning of the word "contradiction". Again, you said Kobe got his good stats from playing next to Shaq. Then you criticized Kobe for putting up bad stats next to Shaq, which in that instance, he didn't put up good stats next to Shaq. You said he both did and didn't put up good stats next to Shaq. That's called a contradiction. Asserting that it is not a contradiction is not a rebuttal, it's just an assertion.

Shaq's best numbers were as a Laker with Kobe: NBA.com/Stats

Yup, Mr. "NBA Best 37 Points In A Quarter" gets just as much attention as Curry. Yes, the 2nd leading scorer who puts up nearly identical numbers to Curry gets just as much attention as Curry. I don't "think" this, I know it. #SplashBrothers

What's being missed is that all this has absolutely nothing to do with Kobe's defense vs. Curry's. There's no comparison, so haters have to resort to derailing the thread with Kobe vs. Duncan. :mjlol:

Look at this trash. Curry is above Karl-Anthony Towns, Kevin Love is above Marc Gasol, and Brook Lopez is above Lebron: NBA Real Plus-Minus - National Basketball Association - ESPN :deadrose:
