We're talking prime Kobe, so yes, we'd be covering those two seasons. He had the green light and was at the peak of his skills and athletic ability(age 26-27). He had a few more ridiculous games before that including the 56pts in 34 minutes vs Memphis and 55pts on the Wizards but was obviously restricted because how the team was constructed.
Of course the scoring will go up with shots taken. But I'm saying that you need the actual ability(ie skills set, stamina, mentality) to get a high amount of shots off. People always throw out the players I mentioned the past post but they've yet to show me they could actually do it. Call them shot jackers, ballhogs or whatever but in the modern era Jordan and Kobe are the only two players to put up mass amounts of shots on reasonable efficiency for entire seasons and their scoring totals and multiple high scoring games reflect that.
