Alc has a GOAT argument

He's not my GOAT but we've reached a point where him and Madlib are pretty much the only guys who haven't fallen off a cliff creatively. Premo been remaking the same 3-4 beats for decades, and I'm not sure the last time I heard a great beat from him. RZA hasn't seemed interested in music in ages. Pete Rock has some dope beats but you never know whether they're new or old. Dre has been rehashing Chronic 2001 style shyt for 20 years to diminishing returns.

Only thing that hurts Alc in my eyes is that he hasn't had a big record or "banger" in ages. I guess you could count the Benny/Cole record from this year which made some noise. Previous to that there was Break The Bank (Schoolboy Q). Obviously he's had underground tracks I'd consider bangers because they'd knock at a live show or in the whip (some Boldy stuff for instance) but I'm talking about tracks that resonate beyond just the fans. He's checked all the other boxes over the last decade plus.

Yeah, to follow on to Piff, think that's what has really separated Al & Lib from their peers. I'm not calling either GOATS but the way they've evolved over the years, and continued to put out relevant music in their mid to late 40's is remarkable. Preme, Pete, RZA, Diamond, Large, etc. may have had better 5 year runs, but it came to a halt a long time ago.

You don't consider Marcberg a classic?

It’s in my top 3 of his catalogue but nah not personally. It’s a good album but the shyt aint reloaded. Reloaded birthed a bunch of sons and movements. Plus Rocs whole style/persona shifted. Kinda reminds me of the skill jump with Jay from rd to volume 1.

pretty much. Havoc is my favourite producer ever but his shyt is missing something these days. I consider Dre the goat
Alchemist has been the most consistent producer ever in my opinion and there is no real dispute against that claim.

Preme fell off back in probably 99 if we are being honest with ourselves
RZA fell off back in maybe 2001
Large, DIamond and Pete are nowhere near GOATS

Prodigy-Keep it thoro
Mobb Deep-Got it twisted
Schoolboy q-break the bank
Dilated people-worst comes to worst

he also won a grammy with Anderson paak make it better
kinda crazy, his commercial tracks were unorthodox

a lot of these songs were on the radio and on constant rotation on mtv back in the day

Shows I have been to that have played these songs as well would get crazy reactions from the crowd .
Alchemist is one of the greats for sure. In my top 10, but he doesn't have a madvillain in his catalog

I hope he does work with Roc Marciano with more albums. I feel that they are close to making a classic . This album by roc is the most accessible album from him in a while and has been on constant spin in the car. I like his albums but his later stuff can throw me off sometimes with his vibe in production. Marcberg and reloaded are the only albums that I would come back to listen to. This one flows pretty good and love how they mesh together.

He birthed the Griselda movement and a lot of the underground hiphop sound you hear now. I always say reloaded was the blueprint and then westside gunn-flygod took that sound and ran with it and help mold it to where it is now in the underground scene.
