His podcast with comedians are awful since he misses like 99% of the jokes they make, but Im a huge MMA fan, not a lot of shows sitting down 3 hours with the biggest fighters in the world, where they talk about their life, career, influences, preview upcoming cards etc.

If people really want to know why his podcast is popular, they have to find an episode with a guest that peaks their interest. When ever there is a combat sports/MMA guy on, I listen. Besides that I barely listen to podcast

I think it’s closer than you think. Patrice was known to dabble in conspiracy theories. Sports. Politics. Relevant topics. I would have to see him actually interviewing people but I don’t see why he could not be effective doing that. Truthfully Rogan is not that special

Patrice was witty, sharp, obviously hilarious, and smart. I think when motivated ( which is the main factor ) he could have dominated in this podcast space.
