NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell maintains the league has no role in Colin Kaepernick remaining an unsigned free agent heading into the 2017 season.

According to Luke Jones of WNST, Goodell said that each of the 32 teams has made a "football decision" to avoid signing the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback.

"He can't be [blackballed] because we're not," Goodell said, per Jones. "The clubs are making those individual evaluations."

The 29-year-old is coming off a solid individual season for the 49ers, throwing 16 touchdowns with four interceptions in 12 games (11 starts). He also added 468 rushing yards and two touchdowns. However, he has become a divisive figure in the sports landscape because of his decision to kneel during the national anthem as part of a protest against police brutality.

Several teams have at least considered signing Kaepernick over the course of the offseason, with the Seattle Seahawks bringing him in for a visit before going in another direction.

Baltimore especially needs help at quarterback with starter Joe Flacco currently dealing with a back injury that might keep him out three to six weeks, per Ian Rapoportof NFL Network.

There are still other options if the Ravens don't sign Kaepernick, and things can certainly change if there are injuries in training camp or the preseason.

He's not being blackballed...

It's just all 32 teams somehow feel that there are better options than a 29 year old vet qb who did a lot with a little last year. Yup, just a big coincedence. :yeshrug:

At this point I expect Jamie Foxx, Keanu Reeves, and Adam Sandler to get calls before Kaep. I mean they all PLAYED qbs before right?

People stay supporting this racist ass league. Quoting contradictions and hypocrisy from owners is to be expected, because they don't feel they owe anyone a gotdamn thing. William Clay Ford Sr was stopped by Drew Sharp once, and actually told Drew he didn't owe anyone a damn thing, which killed Drew's final level of love for the LIons. That same defiant, priviledged ignorance is across the board with these owners.

Not to mention, Kolin's best support came from players the majority of fans don't even know the names to, so he's the only face of a movement.

I swear to gawd I never thought the NBA would be more loved by me than I do the NFL, and we know it's only like 3 or 4 teams that can win :dead:

Not sure why the NFL must blatantly lie about this.

Admitting collusion could make the NFL liable for a lawsuit. If Baltimore doesn't sign him, you'll see the NFL use Baltimore and Seattle as examples of "see we can't have collusion if teams thought about signing him!"

But I don't understand what else y'all expect him to say here. Goodell works for the owners he's as aware as anyone of what's going on
