I was shocked to see no Moment Of Truth on there... That is easily one of their best albums (Some say it's their best) they did. The list is just pure sh*t.
I know it's dated now but I was also shocked to not see Onyx Bacdafucup on the list, that was huge when it came out back in the days. Two I was shocked not to see.
Below The Heavens is a banger I agree and I am thinking whether I saw AZ on the list at all now? Was Doe Or Die on there? If not........
I'm not sure if Doe Or Die was on there.

Not even bout to bother going back through that crappy list lol

When I saw Common's "BE" around the 170's or wherever it was, I knew the list was bout to be garbage

Sounds like people in here don’t remember Missy’s career in real time, which is kinda sad
She has three albums on this list. One of them is in the top 10. That is not at all how her career was perceived in real time.
She was never considered an elite rapper and she was more of a singles artist than an album artist. No one ever talked about how her albums were elite in real time. Although, in fairness, maybe these were conversations women and gay men were having amongst themselves.

In real time she was all over tv and radio, looked at as the female Busta Rhymes with video creativity, along with extensive writing and producing dating back to the New Jack Swing era. I’m very sure you’re older than me, so you should actually already know this. And I’m not sure what women/gays have to do with this, this is Missy we’re talking about, not Nicki Minaj or Saucy Santana.

how many Busta albums made the list?

the list is supposed to be about albums, not hits or impact - nobody is denying that Missy was huge in the late 90's, early 00's, but none of her albums were considered classics or even great when they came out

Missy Elliot wasn't even looked at as a rapper like that. She was seen as moreso an RnB artist who rapped, she spit basic/struggle bars. If you want to give her props for being a talented RnB producer and writer, cool... But this is supposed to be a list of the best hip hop albums not pop or RnB. Lauren Hill's album should have been left off as well.

All those Missy albums that made the list and they left off Bahamadia who had an actual classic album with Kollage.

This part is not true at all and only further proves my point at all not remember how she was looked at in real time, even some of the mid 40s folks on here

Breh real time =/= all time. DMX was a lot of people's favorite rapper in real time. By 2006, people had moved on. You rarely see X in many of these Top 10 lists these days. In 1998-2001 when X was hot, you were called into question if he was left out. Now, nit so much.

In regard to Missy, people did in fact talk about Missy's album. They might not have been discussed in your circle, but they were discussed. I've NEVER had anyone offline tell me how dope Mobb Deep albums were. I discovered their .usic on my own. No knock against them, but I wouldn't say they weren't discussed just because I didn't gear or see it.

And just to put this dumb gay men and women argument to rest. There's a lot of men who listen to Missy who aren't gay. Mike Tyson had her listed in his top MC's list. As far as we know, he isn't gay. I'm not gay and I listen to Missy. There's gay men who love Mobb Deep. So what's your point. Just say you don't like Missy and keep it moving.

I’m not even mad that Missy has an album on the list. She was a big and important artist. But three? And one in the top 10?
Better than Paid in Full? Illmatic? 36 Chambers? Doggystyle? Chronic? Death Certificate?
That doesn’t strike you as absurd?

I’m not saying that all of her fans are women or gay men. She has gay female fans as well. :troll:
No seriously, I know that she has straight male fans. I’m just saying that is the demographic that holds her in the least highest regard. It would make sense to me that she would be rated higher by women and the gay community because she is so beloved in those demos.

This is really all that needs to be said. I was in high school and the military during the height of Missy's popularity, and I've never heard her name come up in a serious rap discussion.

She was looked at as a unique artist/visionary, not an emcee. She's like in the Michael Bivens category and there's nothing wrong with that.

Breh, it's not true that men hold her in the least highest regard. It makes sense that you would box her into someone that is held in higher regard by women and gays because you can't see yourself liking her music, therefore lack the objectivity that quite possibly men think highly of Missy as well. And what really separated Missy from the other females is that her songs where she talked about sex were complimented with verses from great male MC's. You weren't going to get that from Kim or Foxy outside of maybe four of their songs and even then the men played the subject to their dominant.
