it's not like asking your boss for a check stub everytime you get paid.
it's like asking him for a breakdown of all the expenses, including what your coworkers get paid, how much they pay in utilities etc. and then afterwards asking your boss why does x employee get this. Then afterwards asking for equity without putting up any $.
Budden is a POS but Rory and Mal aren't some patron saints who are being screwed over. They come off as entitled and having no knowledge how real world employment works.
Man, this is either misinfo or not understanding.
Rory and Mal are not (and were never) employees of Joe. The 3 of them got paid via a percentage of revenue that the podcast generated. Joe held the intellectual property rights to the podcast itself, but other than that, all 3 of them functioned as co-owners.
For good reason, it wasn’t an even 3 way split of the profits, and Joe surely took the biggest percentage, but Rory and Mal also took percentages. How do you know if your income based on revenue is appropriate if you can’t see said revenue?
I’m so confused how people aren’t understanding this. Joe did NOT hire these guys on either a salary or an hourly wage. They never “worked for Joe”.
If you get paid off of revenue of a company that you essentially co-run and operate, it’s fukked up to not be able to see the books. That’s super fundamental business 101.
