If you think you're lonely now, ohhh girl...
Joe isn’t overpaying them dudes :mjlol:. He’s underpaying them and appropriating the money to do other things or lining his pockets additionally. If he was overpaying them he wouldn’t go through all the histrionics and elusive shyt when they ask for ledgers and such. Now, they still are probably paid “well” so he’s able to justify his treacherous ways in his own mind. They’re just not getting what they agreed to in regards to their contract.

It's funny, because it seems like Joe is. I used to do this too, in one of the more shyttier points of my life. Whenever a relationship was doing well, I'd leave entirely because I was afraid of committing. If I was getting a promotion at work, I'd take another job out of fear of getting more work or something. Joe has that same problem .Every moment he has a modicum of success, he seems intent on destroying it and all the relationships he made along the way.
Holy shyt you just described me . Do I need therapy?

Real talk, it might help. I got commitment issues too. Therapy has helped me over the years. Haven’t seen one in a while, but it’s legit. More people shoukd do it if they can afford it, even if they don’t have any overt issues.

And if you don’t see anyone, that’s fine too. It’s a good thing to realize about yourself though.

it's not like asking your boss for a check stub everytime you get paid.

it's like asking him for a breakdown of all the expenses, including what your coworkers get paid, how much they pay in utilities etc. and then afterwards asking your boss why does x employee get this. Then afterwards asking for equity without putting up any $.

Budden is a POS but Rory and Mal aren't some patron saints who are being screwed over. They come off as entitled and having no knowledge how real world employment works.
Man, this is either misinfo or not understanding.

Rory and Mal are not (and were never) employees of Joe. The 3 of them got paid via a percentage of revenue that the podcast generated. Joe held the intellectual property rights to the podcast itself, but other than that, all 3 of them functioned as co-owners.

For good reason, it wasn’t an even 3 way split of the profits, and Joe surely took the biggest percentage, but Rory and Mal also took percentages. How do you know if your income based on revenue is appropriate if you can’t see said revenue?

I’m so confused how people aren’t understanding this. Joe did NOT hire these guys on either a salary or an hourly wage. They never “worked for Joe”.

If you get paid off of revenue of a company that you essentially co-run and operate, it’s fukked up to not be able to see the books. That’s super fundamental business 101.
