Joe was probably winging it and paying them whatever he thought was good enough so they wouldn't think he wasn't paying them correctly. I'm assuming it's why he called them greedy and why he feels he didn't steal from them. He wasn't abiding by the percentages in their contract. Mal mentioned they would get paid the same amount no matter what city they were in on tour, no matter what venue is sold out or not. Anybody with a brain would question that as well as the 400K mistake.

was dope to see the mixy boyz get their shyt off.. sad part is we'll probably never see these 2 dudes behind a mic again.

Keen to hear some thoughts on this. what do yall think is the next move?

These dudes might've just cleared an easy 50k off the vimeo, clearly they can get some decent money if they decided to keep poddin' in some way.

However

1. I don't think they would get anywhere close to the JPB numbers
2. I don't think either of them could succeed without the other.
3. I don't think either of them have the desire to organise production of an actual pod.

I think a network would be dumb not to throw them an offer to produce for them, build a show for them.. it's clear they have an audience.

If charla/black effect network were to throw them a bag would they take it? how would yall feel about that?
Despite their issues with Joe I think they stil have too much principle to side with the opps like that.

If i was them I would set up a patreon, commit to doing 1 show a fortnight or month to just talk about music and fukkery and have a suuuper low price (1-2 dollars) and collect that easy cheque.

I think them creating this response a day after Joe's rant shows how easy it is to 'produce' a podcast and get paid.

They might of even got paid more from this video than Joe was paying them all year, who knows lol.

Even if they don't do JBP numbers they'll probably get a bigger bag from splitting this money 50/50

Semantics man

I'm hoping you aren't serious ...

I work for a company, that does profit-sharing. It comes AFTER my wages. It's pretty much a bonus. This is nothing like what Joe Budden has with Rory and Mal.

In a profit-sharing plan you get a percentage of the profit, yes, but this has nothing to do with your hourly wage/salary aside from the fact that that decreases the overall profit.

I'm fairly sure they could get 10,000 people to pay 2 dollars a month for them to do a couple pods per week. In a year that would be a pretty good living for them. Just not sure they'd want to do it.

they could make decent money, but 120k each in New York as business owners/1099 is not a good living.

if I’m Rory in using this leverage to just become an A&R like he’s doing with Emotional Oranges and his project. Maybe sign a label deal and just be a music guy who puts shyt together

If I’m Mal, I’m parlaying it into some type of fashion based business. He can drop collabs and limited pieces and have them flying if he puts them on the right rappers and ball players

Time will tell :yeshrug:

They get a percentage. Joe paid them based on what they anticipated the podcast would make, not what it actually made. He paid them off year projection.

my guess is the pod made more, which means they still deserve a percentage of the difference. That’s why they’re not getting the accounting, what Spotify offered or what Spotify were paying. Too much information .

For the life of me I’ll never understand the unlimited amount of passes thecoli issues to Joe. Dude is clearly a snake narcissist and yet people cape for him smh.

Even I’m not guilt free because I find myself rooting for this dude even tho he’s literally Charlie Brown tryna kick the football while at the same time self sabotaging as Lucy. Anyone who does business with him deserves what they get. I have no idea how dudes like Royce and Mal (up until now) stay loyal to him.
