Unfortunately many parents of all incomes have become too busy to show up for PTO meetings or teacher one on ones. Their jobs don't care that they have kids.I agree. But it starts with parents. They have to advocate for such programs and push their kids to attend the ones that exist. I remember going to a 2nd grade in the hood of college Park georgia and my parents made me attend a few after school sessions. But it was mostly crickets in there with a handful of asians and black nerdy kids.
Here we had a tremendous resource available to us despite our lackluster school , but hardly anyone was using it.
