Yo I know I've harped on this before, but I really think the thing that takes these albums from hitting the next level is the fact that they pigeon-hole themselves into using one sample source. That may be an unpopular opinion. Adrian Younge and Antman Wonder are dope, but sometimes I wonder what these album would sound like if Preem could just sample whoever he wanted. It's well documented he was annoyed about having to only sample one person on the first PRhyme.



This isn't bad at all. But out of all the dope albums to drop so far this year, this is my least favorite so far. And I love Royce and Preem.

I'm on MY Calling now. It's pretty dope. Strange to hear Preem using those distortion.static sounding snare drums. One of my favorite songs on here so far though.

I'm actually not sure, but there was a multi-part video series on the making of the first project. I have it bookmarked somewhere. I'm too busy to dig it up now but will try to later. You can probably search "making of prhyme" on youtube and find it. There's a part where Preem is straight up telling the camera that he wished he didn't have to do it and found it frustrating (at least at first).

I think it was Adrian Younge's idea but I'm not sure.

I agree with everyone about the mastering, every instrumental sounds kind of flat to me. I don't know if NPR's tracks are just crappy compressed versions or what, but I'm hoping the retail version sounds more alive. Anyway, I like it so far but I'm borderline ignoring the production. 3/4 of the way through I feel like Royce is holding it down and he's he's being allowed to shine over questionable (relative to his ability) Premier production.

I just got to Made Man and production wise this one actually stands out over the other tracks with the drums somewhat hitting and the bass line shining through. Sound quality wise I wish more tracks sounded like that. Maybe it's just the nature of the instrumental though because you can hear clear separation in the instruments.
