ok so i gave it a good spin over the weekend because i'm from the school where you consume the album multiple times before you give a real opinion as oppose to the first listen.
The album is a solid 4 and i'm probably on the minority that actually thinks the every skit fits the narrative of the album. I get what Royce was trying to do with this album and the newly found WOKE side of him has come out on this project. I personally feel that's cool for a few songs, not the whole concept of an album. When you have the audience feel like you're trying to teach for a full project, you'll start turning people off. That's why i've always been a fan of having a BALANCE on an album. "Hero" to me is classic Royce, went in, one of the best beats on the album he produced and flow wise, that was his best joint. Like someone said earlier, that they felt that royce sacrificed Flow for more input in his rhymes and i agree with that. I want the Royce that flowed on "Death is certain" "Independence day" era (flow wise, again, not the album's content). I think i'ma a fan when Royce gets ignorant and talks shyt on his songs, i think that's when he gets creative with his rhymes but again i'm glad he's found peace in his life and is at a great state of mind because being an alcoholic is no joke and hard to overcome if anything.
Played this album while in the whip with my 13 yr old step son and he was bopping his head and paying attention (i can tell when he starts squinting). So for all that is worth while he enjoyed the album as i did, i don't want another album produced entirely by Royce and want more joints like the ones in street hop/death is certain with top tier production and maybe even experiment with today's producers.
