accurate breakdown. as a nikka who been listening to royce since rock city you pretty much nailed it

Yeah but IMO he undersold bar exam era Royce he was way more then punch lines dudes flow was the smoothest ever and that era includes Street Hop which had on the run and the other song with it which were two of the illest story telling tracks I've ever heard, up there with Nas's best.

Bar Exam era Royce is one of the nicest ever period.

EDIT; talking about the "tumbleweed status" quote my bad -

I think alot of people have moved on from Royce...probably because he's had three distinct syles during his career...

First was his style up until Death is Certain...a very technical style focued on multis and word play.

Second was the bar exam royce, which was just a glut of punchlines which was sometimes hot, some times lukewarm.

Now we got the sober royce who seems like a fusion of the two. I think this is the best he's ever rapped.

I'm posting this because this thread needs to go at least 10 pages deep, because this tape is hot.

:no::no::no:
both these posts are stinging
sobering reality Royce is from an earlier era not appreciated by current rap fans
i agree with both

1000% truuuuu
:yes::yes::yes:

:smoker::smoker::smoker:

I'm about to run this, I'm hearing nothing but good things. I gotta make room
on the phone for this and Elzhi.
I'll listen to it on the ride to work tomorrow.

He's got way more BARS than you
Only because he shoots 1000 shots in a game. A few are going to go in. I don't rap. But if i did I'd be better then royce. Royce bars are getting weaker. Sign of age showing. I'd say he peaked during that Apart of me with you era. After he got sober he became weak like most artists

Didn't like PRhyme but i'm gonna check this now. On his day nobody can quite kill a beat like Royce can.
