So Memphis is rebuilding there team by tearing a top 3 team down mid season and then what going after a max player this summer ? next summer ? 
With Gay they had a shot in the west and were alot closer then they will be in the next 5 years now...It was a salary dump i get it,but it has nothing to do with building a 'ship team...

They're not a top 3 team. They haven't been a top 3 team since mid-December.
Memphis like Toronto has to overpay for talent...He might be worth that contract if he becomes a better player next year as the #1 guy for the Raptors...If he ups his scoring and shooting and is an all star then its not as bad....
