Rugby Tacking is currently being taught in NFL camps, because it is fundamentaly sound and they tackle without helmets and have less concussions. So I can see why Rugby guys are given a shot.

Didn't know this but :salute: to Pete. In rugby it's a penalty to tackle above the shoulders and in union it's also a penalty if you don't attempt to wrap up. Also penalties aside there's the fact that you'd KO yourself if you went in w/ no form like so many NFL cats do.

If it was so simple nikkas who couldn't read/understand their playbook would still be in the league :mjlol:

Make uneducated opinions brehs

Jason Pierre-Paul hooped up until his junior year of high school before playing football. He forwent his senior season of college before declaring for the draft, so that's only 4 years of ball beyond the Pop Warner level before making the league. Now he's a 2x Pro-Bowler. :ehh:

Look at Ziggy Ansah on our squad this year. He's the current NFC Defensive Player of the week and had 8 sacks as a rookie last year.

He didn't learn to play football until his sophomore year of college. :whoo:

I'd be inclined to agree that if you're a physical freak with speed, footwork, and hands, you don't have to necessarily "grow up" playing football to get burn at tight end/defensive end. :ld:

Jimmy Graham played 1 year of college ball

Antonio Gates didn't play any

Christian Okoye came to the US as a discus thrower and didn't know what the NFL was.

American football has a shorter learning curve than other sports; I think Hayne's biggest problem is that he's already 26

NYC (but PGH will forever be home)
I played rugby for a year- aint no joke:sadcam:

The tackling is MUCH more fundamental in rugby, because it HAS to be. If you tackle someone improperly in rugby, chances are youre going to injure yourself far more than the other guy. As a result its seen as something of a gentlemen's sport.

That being said, while rugby is a tough sport played, football is a VIOLENT sport. Basically this:

I would have no problem recruiting a rugby player on defense, because of their tackling and pursuit abilities. A rugby player on offense doe?:ld:
