Just to add my 2 cents, Its ok'ish. But but a Amd A6 apu with a 270 is that a waste? It would should have been with a FX series cpu. Such as an FX6300.Is this a good price for the specs? @Liquid

I think the appeal is getting a small form factor with the Steam controller for those who do not want to build themselves. It's price competitive so far esp when you consider the win OS/steam OS is included in most of them. Can one of the PC Coli nikkas please break this down brehs. Can't you build a stronger PC for cheaper than that ? Cus if so I'm finding it hard to see how this will move serious units when the vast majority of PC gamers could just potentially say fukk it and build their own.![]()

CyberPower is allowing customers to customize pretty much every facet of the machine
Prior to this year's edition of the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas announced that Webhallen prepares own Steam machines. On the show floor, the dealer along with including Scan, Alienware, Falcon Northwest, iBuyPower and Origin PC to show up the first prototypes. Anton Nilsson, head of purchasing at Amazon Marketplace, talks about the venture:
- We've been curious about Steam Machines ever since we heard about the concept. Computer components and gaming are two of our strengths and combining this into a single concept is fun. We became involved in a rather late stage, but already had a clear idea of what we intended to do, if we had the opportunity.
The prototype is a computer system in the Mini ITX format with standard components. Inside a white BitFenix Phenom houses the Intel Core i7-4771 with Geforce GTX 780 and 16GB of DDR3 memory. More details are motherboard Asus H81I-Plus, hybrid storage with Seagate Thin SSHD 1 TB, water cooler Antec Cooler H2O 620 V4 and power supply Corsair CX 600M 600 W. Webhallen however, planning to release both cheaper and more lavish options.
- The plan is to introduce three different models: a really cost-effective machine that can compete with traditional consoles and two machines for those who want a power enough to run everything on high settings. Of course these will cost a penny, but they may on the other hand offer performance on a completely different level than the recently launched game consoles, says Anton Nilsson.
So far it is not clear exactly when Steam Machines will be available in shops. The schedule is to be the first models will find out during the summer months. It gives plenty of time for computer builders to prepare a plethora of new gaming machines for couch potatoes living room.
I get that @daze23 But from a business standpoint it looks to be waste. Thats at least 2 two different motherboards for little gain. The FX cpu are not that much more expensive but to have an apu when the benefits of the apu will go unused unless they are planning for a apu only steam machine.

huh? this is a company that already makes pre-builts, so i don't know what two different mobo's has to do with anything. they probably deal with many more mobo's than that
and many people "waste" the integrated graphics options their CPU offers
if one is cheaper than the other, why do you need any more rationalization?
Yeah offering still-capable generation old chips is gonna really fukk em over as a business. It's not like they've been doing it for years.![]()
NoIs this a good price for the specs? @Liquid

You make a good point about already having the mobo on hand. But the whole point of an apu is to have cpu + gpu on one chip thats "ok" at gaming. But if you are going to add a dedicated gpu why spend the extra 10 bucks are so and make it with a fx4300 which should be faster overall plus the mobo will have better upgrade path for faster cpu's.
Yes I know, But they are actually people with apu gaming pc's. Im sure its not too many with intel only gaming rigs.they're showing their lowest price base model. it will probably be like most customizable pre-builts, where customers can go through a list and upgrade what they want (and it will adjust the price accordingly)
as far as the apu, the majority of cpu's now come with some sort of integrated graphics. there's plenty of people out there with a 2500k and a dedicated gpu

You missed the point altogether my friend.
My macbook air has a better GPU in it than those.![]()
