Microsoft is also planning one or two hardware surprises for the event, we're told. WPDang claims there may be a slimmer Xbox One, but a lack of rumors around Microsoft's console plans suggest this is unlikely. However, Microsoft could use the event to launch more Surface hardware outside of the anticipated Surface Pro 4. A Surface Mini had been planned for an unveiling alongside the Surface Pro 3 last year, but the device was scrapped just weeks before the launch. As we approach Microsoft's October event, we've heard whispers of additional Surface hardware but nothing solid on what form factors will ultimately arrive.

Now Chinese blog WPDang reports that their sources suggest we may see Microsoft launch a range of new hardware in October, ranging from the Lumia 940 and 940 XL to a new Surface Pro 4, new Band 2 fitness wearable and also a new Xbox One Mini console .

Of the Surface Pro 4 WPDang suggests it may use Intel's new Skylake processor, and of the Xbox One Mini, they believe it may drop Blu-ray playback functionality and become a much smaller, quieter device about 1/3 the size of the current behemoth.

I'm actually surprised this wasn't an option at launch. Xbox one mini with Kinect for $400 or the one with the blu ray drive for $500.

$300 with a 2TB drive. I can't see it launching with less than a 2TB drive in there.

$200 would be insane and force Sony to respond quickly.

Maybe to reach the $200 target would be to release it with a 500GB, but removable drive?

Courtney actually asked about this a couple of months ago. His team must have been working out the numbers already.

Which lumia do you have? I convinced a friend of mine to get a 640 on T-Mobile and he loves that shyt.

He couldn't believe how good it is after all the negativity surrounding the OS.
