Nah hardware changes 4 months before launch are not very feasable. But the specs being different from what was leaked over a year ago is a very real possibility, especially considering M$ has not released official final spec info.

We know both companies have leaked incorect specs to keep the other on their toes.

That big ass fan was to absolutely make sure RROD Jr doesn't happen. And you gotta remember that MS isn't a hardware company.

I believe they can overclock the gpu, but not to what the PS4 has (again, unless you change the mobo, which easily delays the system).

The ram thing though is a reach because these units are being manufactured.

You're making the assumption that the changes are just now being decided on. That doesn't necessarily have to be the case.

The Xbox One development team is asking for developer feedback on changes they would want to see hardware wise.

Why would MS be asking that question 4 months from release? not saying it isn't true but that is a big ass red flag too me. This system should be at some manufacturing plant, not in the ask developer phase, that should have happened in 2010 or 11. If that bullet point is true, I would not buy a XB1, because they did not give themselves adequate time to rigorously test the machine. Just sound fishy as hell too me.

True, but at the May 2013 reveal a bullet point was 8GB of Ram. So bumping up to 12GB's is just like Rekkapryde said will require a lot of work at this point.

Bruh, they never divulged full specs because they weren't better than the competition's... All they said was 8 gigs of ram (5 for games, 3 for OS as we found out). If the XB1 was truly stronger than the PS4, you think they'd hold back on bragging about their specs? Of course not.

Every XB1 rumor from earlier this year ended up true, but now we are supposed to believe that they are again changing something at the last minute?

The only plausible thing they can truly change is the GPU clockspeed, but even then, they just can't magically make it the same as the PS4 without a mobo redesign. Same with adding more ram. These units are being manufactured right now. To make a change like this would delay the system. Changing the mobo automatically delays the system, they just can't do SOME of these things without doing so.

MS execs have been in reactionary mode for a while now. I think delaying the system to increase it's power might not be a bad idea, but there's no way in hell they do that. MS doesn't have the worldwide brand recognition with the Xbox to catch back up to the PS4 like the PS3 did.

Just bite the bullet, and drop the price 100 bucks and keep Kinect in it. OR bring back the rumored subscription model, they gotta do something because this shyt will be a bloodbath this holiday season worldwide.

Even though they aren't, let's assume the leaked specs are wrong and that the GPU isn't as gimped compared to the PS4 (even though these numbers also have been proven right). MS themselves said it would have 8 gigs at their reveal. If they up it to 12, they'd have to order an entirely new memory type than what they have now. The memory slots on the XB1 mobo have been shown. They'd have to effectively dump all the memory they bought and get larger memory to fit the slots. And that's only if they can do that. If they want to keep the orders of what they currently have, they'd have to change the mobo and add slots to accompany the extra 4 gbs they want to put in place (theoretically).

You just aren't making hardware changes like this at this point in the game. Overclocking the GPU is the only realistic thing they can do without delay and redesigning/testing.

Like I've said plenty of times, at the end of the day the on paper specs really won't mater.

Devs have said the performace of the two consoles will be similar

History tells us performance will be similar

Common sense tells us performace will be similar

And the games that have already been shown prove that performace will be similar.

I asked how adding 4gb of RAM would help unless the GPU was changed. I found out on another website it couldn't unless the PS4 was either delayed or already planned for it. Since nobody outside of insiders at sony could begin to answer that question, I stopped asking you experts on that. I have asked about PSN and its improvements and all I got in return was a bunch of name calling. So its clear whats going on around here. Fanboys are furious Let me drop this knowledge on you...

See my post above. They got a picture of the board bruh. The APU is on there. along with all of the other leaked mobo board info from vgleaks.

Most they can do is over/underclock, but you just aren't switching out that memory without redoing the board.

I keep seeing people say the machines are being manufactured right now. Do we know this for sure? Do we know how hard it is to update the memory on these consoles? Is it a matter of switching out DIMMS? I ask because I've taken the 360 apart and stripped it down all the way to the bare metal. I don't ever remember any memory just sitting in there that I could pop out and replace. Now I know the Xbone is a different system, but I have to believe you can't just open the damn thing up and put new memory in it like a PC. Though that would be pretty cool if you could.
