• Current plans call for Finn Bálor to upset Seth Rollins at SummerSlam to become the first WWE Universal champion. Both Vince McMahon & Triple H are backing him for the spot.

• Unsuprisingly, the same reports predicting a Bálor win say they'll be making Raw's Universal belt the top prize in the company, with SmackDown's WWE World title losing some luster.

Im for Finn being the title winner and a main guy....but how you gon make a 50 year old title with the added WCW/NWA/WWWF/WWF/WWE lineage secondary

This just proves history and tradition dont mean shyt in a worked industry and Vince can take and make things how he wants

Well Vince has always been about that and changing the rules and whatever he says goes. But if your plan was to make the raw title mean more than just put that title on raw lol. Make Smackdown have the WWE supercalifragiliastic title and keep moving

Either way, the winner will/should be a good champ. Not sure if beating Finn or Nakamura that weekend would be smart.

Technically it does.

The moment Chris Jericho unified the WWE and WCW titles, the WCW title and its past NWA lineage became a part of the WWE Championship.

The belt awarded to Triple H (World Heavyweight Championship) has nothing to do with he WCW Title of old they just shared the same belt. And now that belt is gone.

Smark booking here, but if the World Heavyweight Championship was truly the successor of the WCW Championship, then Triple H should've defeated then Undisputed Champion Brock Lesnar to re-dispute the titles and give RAW it's title. But since Brock took the belt to SmackDown and never looked back, Eric Bischoff just created a new title, used an old belt, and gave it to Triple H.

All of this makes me feel like Shane, Steph and Vince really sat down and had a negotiation on who would get what. Vince is still on Stephanie's side so he tells Shane "Here's the offer...Stephanie runs Raw, you get Smackdown BUT...on your show you have Cena, Orton, the championship, and I'll even throw in the IC belt too!"

Shane: "Deal!"
