Depending on your usage it's still a good deal. Just went from the best deal in gaming to the more expensive best deal in gaming. Lol people complain every time Netflix raises the prices and it's still cheaper than buying one Blu-ray a month or going out to the movies.

Movies/Shows are consumed much differently than video games though.
It's not apples to apples when you think about the value of the services an dhow the content is consumed.
When you look at X a month with the ability to consume let's say 20 - 30 pieces of content on Netflix vs video games being a much longer commitment, it's a little more complicated to compare the two. Same could be said with music streaming subs.
There's this idea where you pay X for access to theoretically consume a ton but how much can you really consume? I might not be explaining it well enough.

I know. The initial rumor was a rumored free tier with ads before it was confirmed to be a restructure and price increase of all tiers.

Both MS and Sony gotta stop taxing people to play games online on their consoles, especially if you can play their own games for free online on PC.

All that extra shyt like monthly games, game library, cloud streaming, etc, makes sense to have a subscription fee.

Realistically, most people are not gonna want to see $30 come out they account every month just for games they prob ain’t even finishing.

Stuff like Netflix and Amazon prime are like the only services that can get away with such high subscription cost. Disney includes like 3 other streaming services and it still ain’t 30 yet

OP was the rumor that came out before the announcement. my guess is the source of the rumor saw one of those images of the new plans (probably not in USD, cause they got the price wrong too), and made the assumption that PC Gamepass was going away, since it wasn't listed, and all the console tiers include PC games

Games are more expensive than buying a movie or album so why wouldn't the price scale

Sony definitely makes the best games, but they aren't showing up on PS+ until a year later. And they're only dropping 1-2 games a year now anyways.

Most of the games I listed (and a lot more that I missed) are launching day 1 on Game Pass.

Game Pass was mostly trash the entire generation, but we can't deny they're finally getting great games the last year and change (multiple GOTY candidates). We also can't act like Sony is flooding the market with games when their output has slowed down dramatically.
